The Doctor walked into your room to find you laying in your bed, staring up at the ceiling while listening to the downpour outside. Your room was kind of dark, the only light of a gray afternoon coming through the mostly closed blinds.
"Hi," You said. He smiled and climbed into the bed to lay next to you. You stared at the moving fan together.
"Hello." He took your hand.
"I like the rain," You whispered, turning your gaze toward the large window.
"So do I." Thunder crashed. You looked down at your hands as the Doctor started rubbing your hand with his thumb. He placed a gentle kiss on your forehead before turning back to watch the ceiling fan with you. You both were quiet for a long time before the Doctor spoke.
"Over all my life I've noticed something."
"You've noticed a lot of somethings."
"But with this something in particular, I've noticed that people take moments like this for granted. Especially me. I'm always running about I hardly ever just lay still." You turned your head to look up at him. He smiled down at you. You turned to lay on your side and snuggle against him as he flopped onto his side to let you. You listened to the sound of his slowed heartbeats as another cloud crossed over the sun and it got darker. You closed your eyes.
"Keep talking," You whispered.
"About what?"
"Anything." You could almost feel him smile.
"Did you know there is a whole religion dedicated to laying quiet while listening to the rain? Everytime it rains on that planet the whole world goes silent. People will let strangers into their home just so they can lay together."
"Mm," You hummed in relaxed amazement.
"I haven't been to that planet in a long time. Probably because I was banned." You let out a soft laugh. "But there are lots of places like it. Places all over the universe where the people are so closely knit... They'd do anything together..." You opened your eyes to look up at him to find that he was staring at you. He smiled at you. You snuggled back against him and closed your eyes, waiting to fall asleep to the up and down of his chest.(It's short and there's probably some errors, but it started raining and I wanted to finish it before the rain stopped. •u•)
