The moment his chariot smashes into the Greek lines, a frenzy of chaos erupts around Perseus. Aris, his comrade-in-arms, is shouting orders in front of him, but the cacophony of battle drowns out his words. Instead, Perseus takes up his spear and begins to strike down the Greeks beside him with swift, precise blows.
Perseus feels his body moving on its own as if driven by an unseen force. With every thrust of his spear, another Greek warrior falls to the ground. Despite the chaos around him, he remains focused, honing in on his targets with unwavering precision. Their chariot had managed to push further into the Greek lines, but Perseus is barely aware of this. His mind is fixated on the rhythmic pattern of thrusting, retrieving, and repeating.
Suddenly, a path opens up amidst the bodies strewn around their chariot, and they manage to fight their way out of the fiercest fighting. Perseus takes a moment to catch his breath and survey the chaos around him.
Perseus looked back and saw his comrades engaged in fierce combat with the Greeks. Some of them had managed to get through the mass of bodies and were in the same advantageous position as Perseus and Aris. But many others had gotten held up or lost their chariots in the initial charge. Despite this setback, the battle seemed to be going in Troy's favor. Perseus noticed a few Greeks had already begun to run away, and although they would likely return, it was a clear sign of the Trojan army's strength.
As they circled further away from the battle, Perseus heard a sudden grunt of pain from Aris. He quickly turned to his companion, only to be met with the horrifying sight of a sword running through Aris' stomach. Blood flowed out of the wound, staining his armor and the chariot floor. Perseus knew he needed to act fast to save his comrade's life.
Uncertainty gripped Perseus as he hesitated between turning back to seek help or pressing on to complete their mission. But when he looked back at Aris, all doubts vanished. The man's face was contorted in agony, and his hands suddenly released the reins, dropping them over the railing and between the horses.Perseus lunged forward, stretching his fingers towards the reins, but they slipped out of reach and disappeared over the railing.
For a moment, he froze, overwhelmed by the horror of the situation. Then, he made up his mind. He would not leave his friend to die alone in the midst of a raging battle. With a determined look, Perseus turned his chariot back towards Troy. He would take Aris to the city and seek treatment for his injuries, no matter the risk. He couldnt let the man die without trying to help him. The journey would not be easy, but he would not rest until his comrade was safe.
Suddenly, he heard a voice in his head urging him to go back to the city. He shook his head, unsure if he was going crazy or if it was just his own thoughts. But then, to his surprise, the horses suddenly turned around and began galloping back toward the city gate.
Perseus gripped the side of the chariot, his knuckles turning white as he struggled to keep his balance. The horses thundered across the battlefield, their hooves kicking up dirt and debris. He felt the wind whipping through his hair and the sun beating down on his skin, but his focus remained on getting Aris to safety.
The chaos of battle faded behind them as they drew closer to Troy's walls. Perseus clung to the chariot with all his might, his heart racing with fear and adrenaline. Despite only having just met Aris, a sense of duty and loyalty to his fellow soldier burned within him, compelling him to save him at all costs.
As they approached the city gates, Perseus saw the familiar faces of the guards looking down at them from above. He shouted up to them, "Open the gates! We have a wounded man here!"
The gates creaked open slowly, and Perseus urged the horses to go faster. Perseus barely had time to take in his surroundings before the chariot suddenly stopped. He looked down and saw Aris, his friend, and companion, lying motionless at the bottom of the chariot. The sword still protruded from his stomach, blood seeping from the wound.
