Chapter 30 * It's Love

Finally. Everything has been revealed. Turns out Caitlin's dad was the mastermind of everything after all. But it's over. It's finally over.

I immediately went to Julie after the cops took all the men. She was talking to Uncle Rick with mom and dad and I walk to them.

"Son,how've you been? I missed you so much." Dad pats me at the back. "Are you still mad at me?"

I sigh. "I'm fine,dad. It's all over now anyway."

He nods and beams at me. "That's good,son."

Mom smils at me. "Nick,I'm sorry--"

"I know,mom. I know." I cut her off and gave her a smile. "I apologize too,for everything I've said.

Her lips curve into a huge grin. "Oh,Nick! I missed you so much!" She embraces me. Then dad joins in.

"I'm so happy we're all finally together again." Dad remarks.

I see Julie smile at us in my peripheral vision. Then she turns to her dad and hugs him.

We all let go of eachother. Here we go. I walk up to her and say,"Julie.".

She turns to me. "Hey."

"You really can't open up yet?"

"I'm sorry. Dad and I have to go home already. See you at school." She walks away.

Fine. She doesn't wanna talk.

"Wait." She turns back,which made my lips twitch upward.

"Yes?"

"Don't get too excited. I just wanna ask a few questions cause I was the only one in the room uninformed."

I chuckle. "Go on."

She sighs. "First of all,why was Caitlin's dad so furious to kill you? And then how did he know your mom? And why did Caitlin say her mom's justice? And---"

"Woah,woah,woah. Slow down. I'm not a machine that could answer everything in one sec."

"Okay. Answer the first one."

I puff out a breath. "Dad told me about everything. Our dads met him when his family moved at Campbell. They were neighbors and they became close. But he was frustrated when our dads had to move here in Appledale. He felt like they betrayed him after everything." I explained and Julie listened eagerly. "Then a year later,David moved here in Appledale and met our dads again. He brought his new bestfriend which was my mom thinking they'd be jealous of him because he has his new bestfriend. But dad liked my mom and eventually,they became a couple after a few years of dating her. And that made him more furious."

"And that made him wanna kill you? What kinda reason is that?"

"No. It's not just because of that." I say. "They had a big fight because of my mom until he surrendered because mom told him how much he loved my dad. So he gave up my mom to dad and tried to move on. But when he knew about my sister's death,my mom's depression,he thought it was a big mistake for him that he surrendered my mom."

"So?"

"He was furious about my dad because he didn't take care of my mom. And he hurted her. He thought that he surrendered my mom for nothing. He thought that he gave my dad everything he wanted but eventually lost it."

"And he wanted to kill you because you're the only thing that's left of him." Julie remarked.

"I guess so." I let out a deep sigh.
