*Dates*
Well, technically this was a week before the Hashira Training Arc like Giyu had promised get took the butterfly sisters each on a date. (Obviously separate) It was a cool Saturday night for Kanae's date as she had wanted them to have a simple dinner and then a walk around the town together. Giyu arrived at the butterfly mansion wearing his usual blue haori with a white button-up underneath, it didn't take long for Kanae to step out.
Giyu's heart skipped a beat when he saw her step out, she was wearing a beautiful dress that was a mix of a traditional Japanese dress and a more European style with her normal butterfly haori over it. Her hair was not in its usual style it was instead in a long singular braid that hung over the front of her shoulder with a singular butterfly pin holding it in.
"You ready?" asked Kanae sweetly causing Giyu to regain his composure and smile to the woman. "Always," he responded while offering his elbow to her making her giggle as they connected arms. They talked to each other as they made their way to the restaurant not realizing Aoi and Shin were watching over them so no one messed with the date, demon or otherwise.
The restaurant was the nicest one in town and was a normal Japanese style with a take on fancy cuisine. They sat down right away thanks to a tip from Giyu and got to ordering right away. The conversation was light and heartfelt between them, it was nice for them a getaway for Kanae from work and something for Giyu to think about besides all the fighting. Giyu ordered his beloved Salmon Daikon and Kanae got a plate of dumplings. It didn't take them long to finish and finish up their date.
As they were walking through an orchid of sakura hand in hand, the clouds parted revealing the beautiful night sky. "Follow me," ordered Kanae as she dragged him to a clearing he chuckled and followed her lead. They lay on the grass staring into the night sky with a cool breeze falling over them.
"I'm scared," said Kanae abruptly causing Giyu to turn his head in confusion to face her. She didn't meet his eyes but instead continued to stare at the night sky. "What?" "I'm scared that I'm going to die in that fight," replied Kanae still looking to the sky with a solemn look Giyu opened his mouth to reply. "We know what happens Kanae so that the future can change." "Can it for me? I wasn't alive during that time Giyu, I'm an outlier just like you are now. For all, we know I'm meant to die at Upper 2's hands."
Giyu sat up causing Kanae to finally look at him with teary eyes, "Kanae." "I'm sorry for ruining the mood Giyu but I just had to get this feeling off my chest. This constant state of fear and uncertainty, this hopelessness that my life was never meant to be. Look what happened to the past Giyuu, he saved my life all those years ago and the universe punished him for it. It keeps playing on a loop in my head, that maybe this world would have been in a better state if I had died like I was supposed to." Kanae was downright sobbing at this point as she had also sat up.
Giyu just wrapped his arm around her shoulder forcing her head into his chest as she continued to sob, "The reason I know your wrong Kanae, is because I'm here." Kanae continued to sob quietly but listened to Giyu anyway, "I don't believe you were meant to die Kanae. That's why this world's Giyuu saved you, I was always meant to die instead or live until the very moment of our victory. I have lived this long only because the gods will it, they will it that I make this world better. And until that happens you won't die."
Kanae stopped sobbing it turning to sniffles as she fully hugged Giyu, she looked up at him with her tear-stained eyes with him looking back. They both leaned in and shared a passionate kiss with both of their hearts beating rapidly. For the first time, Giyu didn't feel guilty for showing his feelings. However, something came to his mind that he knew he had to tell Kanae before they went anywhere with this relationship. Givu separated himself from Kanae making her confused but he whispered he needed to tell her something before they started anything together and then she could decide if he was worth it.
