The sun was up.
...
Holy 💩, the sun!
Nezuko sat up in alarm and looked around in a panic, only to find Yuichiro's box beside her and Enmu laid out flat on his face beside it.
Rui was kneeling beside Nezuko with a worried look, "Ah! Kamado-chan! You're finally awake!"
Nezuko looked towards the boy in alarm.
"Rui-kun! What happened?! Is everyone-?""You and Zenitsu-san made it to the front to behead the demon.." Rui explained, "The train sort of derailed, so your brother and his friends spent a lot of time making sure everyone got out alive, but they had to leave the moment the sun came up. Are you okay? Did you really hit your head that hard?"
Nezuko stared for a long moment before relaxing, her pink eyes softening into a look of relief, "Oh... thank goodness... ugh."
She flopped onto her back with a long sigh.
'I'm exhausted. I can't remember it all that well, but it was tough getting up front... I'm very fortunate that Zenitsu-san and Inosuke-san were there with me. I'll thank them the next time I see them.'
There were footsteps, followed by a frantic, "A-Akaza-san! What are you doing here?!" from Rui.
Nezuko sat up immediately, moving to shield Yuichiro's box with a surprised look as the ebony haired Hashira appeared.
Akaza wasn't super tall, definitely shorter when it came to the other Hashira excluding Rui and Zohakuten, but it didn't make him any less intimidating.
His lack of a katana made him... horrifying, really.
The young man came to a halt in front of Nezuko and she stared at him warily for a long moment.
"Y/n." the girl whispered, "Is she okay?"
Akaza shook his head, "Yourself, Ayaki, Enmu, and all 200 passengers survived. As for Tsugikuni, this was all I found."
Nezuko accepted y/n's mask, paling at the sight of it covered in blood and singed in multiple areas as if at had been burned.
Dead?
No. That wasn't right.
What about Yuichiro?
What about her Aunt and Uncle?
What about her father?
"You all need to have your injuries treated. Aizetsu's place is too far from here, so come with me." Akaza instructed as he turned away, "We can't have you in this condition when you report back to Muzan-sama."
"H-Hey... how come this was all you found?" Nezuko called, her grip on the mask tightening, "Wasn't there a body, o-or... anything? Something?"
The Hashira didn't turn around.
It was a long moment before he finally spoke.
"Kizuki, weak demons, doesn't matter. They're all the same." was his reply, "Once their prey is unable to fight back, they eat them. Considering all I found was her mask, the only answer that your friend was devoured by the Kizuki she'd fought."
'Devoured? Does he mean eaten? Surely Rengoku-san wouldn't have...' Nezuko was at a loss for words, 'That... can't be right. No way.'
"Kamado-chan, come on..." Rui murmured, giving Nezuko a light nudge, "Before Akaza-san gets too far ahead."
Nezuko don't budge, staring blankly that the mask.
'She... must've gone back to her Aunt and Uncle when the sun rose. She must be there... yes. She'll be there.'
