"How are you feeling?"
"Still a little tired."
The room was bright, warm.
Sunlight shone through the window and into the room, casting light upon the young demon slayer sitting in bed.
A black cat laid in her lap, purring with content as she stroked its back and stared outside with a neutral expression.
She had h/l h/c hair and s/c skin, marked with blood red flame markings on the right side of her face which crept up from her shoulder blade, along her neck, and onto her cheek.
There was a distant look in her e/c eyes, the cold and unwelcoming expression of hers barely containing the hatred and anger which burned behind that vacant gaze.
The Demon Slayer Corp's beloved physician exhaled quietly, a little disheartened to see his favorite visitor so upset as he prepared a needle and syringe for drawing blood.
"You don't seem very happy. Did something happen?" the young man inquired, a solemn expression on his face as he gently took the slayer's free arm.
The girl was silent for a long moment, something that had become quite the rarity in recent months, before murmuring, "Hashira... I've been selected to become a Hashira, should one of the preexisting ones die."
The young main paused, before looking up with mildly surprised blue eyes, "Isn't becoming a Hashira something to be proud of? Your strength is being acknowledged."
"That man made a recommendation to Kibutsuji that I be selected as one." y/n grumbled, the arm which the physician held beginning to tense, "He even had the audacity to try to take me on as a tsuguko."
"Oh." the blue eyed young man looked down at the young lady's arm, "Well, when you add that information to the equation... the fact that you're upset isn't as surprising."
The girl merely huffed.
"You know, you shouldn't let your resentment towards one person interfere with your own life." the young man pointed out, "So long as he isn't actively popping up during your day on a daily basis, I see no reason for you to turn down this opportunity. Besides..." he lowered his tone, "As a Hashira, you'll be able to protect your brother."
"But he's safe here already!" y/n protested, "You and Urogi-san take good care of him while I rest, and nobody can attack us here."
"Lower Ranked Slayers are forbidden. Rank Five, his tsuguko, and Rank Six simply can't due to difference in rank." the physician began, "My brothers agreed not to, but any one of the Hashira ranked higher than my younger brother may come in whenever they'd like and kill both you and your brother if they find out about you two."
"Let them try, I'll make sure they'll never come near this place ever again." y/n snapped and the young man let out a sigh, shaking his head.
"Please do it outside the estate. Cleaning blood off the walls is a pretty depressing way to spend my time, and it's not like I can just leave it." the young man sighed and y/n grimaced, feeling a little bad.
"Ehm, I won't fight here. I promise." she murmured, "But Aizetsu-san, if what you said is true, how come neither Rank Two or Three have tried it yet?"
Aizetsu wore a thoughtful look, "My little brother told me about the most recent Hashira Meeting. The one regarding you becoming a Hashira should one of the current Hashira die... Rank One had made a request to Muzan-sama—"
"Forget it, I don't wanna know." y/n grumbled.
"Damn, no hesitation." the cat in her lap hummed, drawing both the physician and the slayer's attention to her.
