I'm stiff and sore from the beating last night. I look over to see Sammy, who's thankfully still asleep. I get up, but I quickly cover my mouth to cover the up the muffled, exasperated sigh with the realization of how bad I hurt.
"Sammy.." I say softly but urgently, for I'm scared if I say it any slower my voice would crack.
"What?" Sammy relies groggily, turning over to face me. His eyes go wide seeing me, and he's suddenly wide awake. "Did dad....? Again?"
"Yeah, yeah he did. Please, will you look. I'm almost positive something's broke. It hurts to breathe." Suddenly I'm coughing up blood along with my rugged breathing.
"Dean, you have to go to the hospital! Your rib could be poking your lung."
"You know what dad would do if I went. Go get me a bitch ton of pain killers and some whiskey. I'll have to make it through school." I sigh, clutching my side. I don't want to go to school, but it's better than the alternative.
Sammy comes back with what I asked for, but he's reluctant to give it to me.
"Dean are you sure you want to go to school drunk?"
"Not drunk Sam, just knocking the edge off my pain. I'll be fine." I say, taking the things he held in his hand and tossing them in my mouth. I automatically start to feel the buzz of the alcohol in my system, so I don't wait for the pain killers to work. I'm ready in about five minutes, and I'm walking out to my car with Sammy. The pain killers are starting to work, but not nearly enough to even be remotely comfortable.
--
As I pull up to the school, I feel just slightly better. As Sam and I walk to the building I can feel eyes on me, or perhaps more so my cuts and bruises that paint my face with all shades from green, blue and purple, and the red lines that indicate the cuts I have. I forgot I hadn't made an attempt to cover any of it up until I got here.
I make my way to my locker, leaving all my books untouched because it's not like I do any of the teachers work anyway. Closing the locker, I see the guys i was with the other day. They're all huddled in a circle around someone. There's something in the pit of my stomach that tells me something's not right, so against every aching bone in my body I go over there. I see some kid -lucifer I think? - beating the shit out of some other kid. I watch for a moment, moving around as much as my ribs will let me, so I can see who's taking the beating. I'm completely caught off guard when I see the face of the boy on the ground. It's Cas.
Adrenaline rushes through my body. They're hurting Cas. I push my way through the crowd, suddenly unaware of my ribs, or maybe just not caring. It feels like times going in slow motion, and it doesn't even feel real till my fist collided with Lucifers jaw. And I don't stop. He may have hit me a few times, but the rage that spit fire though my veins couldn't compare to anything he had. People where trying to pull me off him, dodging when I threw a punch at lucifer. I didn't care that he was bleeding and pleading for me to stop, i kept going. No one and I mean no one would ever touch Cas again. It took a group of people to drag me away from lucifer, but they didn't stay. They went back to him to make sure he wasn't dead or something. A few minutes passed and I had calmed down slightly, but calming down had send heavy rushed of pain through out my body. I could see the black dots clouding my vision once again, but it was impossible not to see that it was Cas running towards me. I guess I had stated to fall, be chase despite his own injuries, he reached out to hold me up.
"Dean?!" I hear Cas yell, but I'm already fading out. I'm coughing up blood again, and I know it's running all down my face.
"It's okay Cas, you'll be okay now." Is the last thing I'm able to say, then the darkness over powers my vision and I can't remember anything.
--------------------------------------------------
"Oh god, Dean please. Dean stay with me. Dean!" I cry. He's passed out on the floor and won't wake up.
"Someone call an ambulance!!" I yell. Im clutching his limp body and by now I'm crying.
Only minutes later I hear the sirens of the ambulance coming to take Dean to the hospital. I have to plead to the paramedics to let me ride with Dean to the hospital, and it includes a quick detailed explanation on what we are to each other. Thankfully the paramedic woman was kind and sympathetic enough to give in to letting me ride to the hospital in the back with Dean.
The ride was painstakingly long. I couldn't do anything but worry about him. I could only listen to the paramedics talk about what was going on with him and try to guess what it meant. Suddenly out of nowhere the paramedics are yelling.
"He's crashing!"
My heart stops.
They're surrounding him, hooking up wires and clearing his air ways.
"Clear!"
Nothing.
Another shock.
Nothing.
Time seems to be going slow. I can't process that they're attempting to bring him back to life. Right now he's dead. My world stops spinning and I can't think, and I might become ill if I don't get out soon.
"Clear!"
The heart monitor starts beeping again.
I start sobbing. One of the workers rubs my back.
"It's okay darlin'. We've got him back."
I still can't think. He's so hurt, but he was hardly touched by lucifer. Thankfully we get to the hospital shortly after. They rush him back to a room, and I'm stuck in the waiting room.
Please be okay.
