"Alastor, hurry up now! Don't want to be late for school." Mother said packing my lunch.

I couldn't eat breakfast. I had no appetite. I grip my arms. Mother walked over to me.

"Heard about last night?" She asked.

I nod. I feel like I was going to cry again. She grips me. She holds me close to her. Her embrace was tender as usual. It feels like a morning summer day with lots of posies and roses.

"It's okay sugar. It was just a squabble over dishes. Nothing to worry about. Now hurry up and eat your toast." She said.

I nod. Bitterly, I eat it. I hear him coming. My eyes widen. I had to get out of here before he comes down. I hear his breathe. It was like listening to an angry bear. I grab my backpack. Hurry. Hurry.

Mother put her hand on my shoulder. She kisses me on the head.

"Have a good day at school and please don't get into a fight." She said.

I nod. School wasn't much fun either. Although it is better than home. Anything is better than with him in the house. Anything.
