XENO’S POV

The next day wasn’t much better as I woke up much later and didn’t even have the energy to leave my bed. Eventually I got up and did the usual things, minus the shower. My limbs were heavy and stiff as I made myself breakfast. The world was muted as I still couldn’t come to terms with Keisuke’s death. I visited his grave yesterday, and didn’t attend the actual funeral as I couldn’t face the rest of Toman. I was a traitor, and I was also part of the reason why Keisuke was killed… how could they ever forgive me for what I did?

The food and coffee I had tasted like nothing as I finally gathered the courage to get out of my house. It was Emma’s birthday and I needed to give her a present. I got on my motorbike and rode it to SS motors. I knew that Emma wouldn’t be home so I went to give the present to Shinichiro. I also needed some comfort and Shinichiro is always there for me. I arrived at the shop and saw Shinichiro lounging on the couch while reading some motorbike magazines. He immediately looked up with a smile and greeted me as he put away the magazines. “Xeno! Finally here to stop by?”. I put on a forced smile as I shut the door and sat on the couch beside him. “Yeah. I stopped by to drop off Emma’s birthday gift”. I set a wrapped box onto the table as he turned to me with a quizzical expression, brow furrowed as he turned his attention to me. “But why are you giving this to me instead of Emma?… Is this about two weeks ago?”. News spread like wildfire about Toman defeating Valhalla but at the cost of losing one of their men. I was bombarded by calls from my friends from Toman and Brahman, but I couldn’t pick any of them up, I only ran into Chifuyu yesterday by accident and haven’t seen anyone since. “I-I can’t face them. I-, It’s my fault that he died!”. I shuddered as I felt my tear ducts start to work again. “Xeno…Come here. It’s not your fault so stop blaming yourself”. He wrapped his arms around me as I choked on my own tears and sobs, the salty liquid soaking into his T-shirt. His scent was the same as always, the comforting smell of motor oil and cologne. It made me more relaxed as I shook in his hood, his hand patting my back in a soothing rhythm. “Shh. It’s okay. It’s not your fault. You’ve known Manjiro and the rest for years, and you should know that none of them would blame you for something like this! Yes… Keisuke did die, but it wasn’t as a result of you joining their rival gang. Now, calm down and we’ll both go see Emma. Okay?”. “Okay”.

After calming down, we went to the café a block away to see Emma. Shinichiro said Mikey had taken her out for her birthday and I had to admit that I was kinda jealous.Les  No one takes me out on my birthday, and I’ve never even had a girlfriend. Am I so ugly that no one wants me? We finally came to stop as I saw, Mikey and Emma at a table, Draken joining them with a teddy bear as well as Takemichy, Hina, Yamagishi and… Is that Hina’s little brother? He’s adorable! I felt fear grasp me in its clutches as regrets of coming here flooded my mind. My heartbeat raced as Shinichiro put a comforting hand on my shoulder, leading me to the table. “Hey Emma, Mikey! We see you’re enjoying yourselves!”. I flinched as Mikey!’s and Draken’s gazes captured mine, me quickly responding by looking away. I couldn’t do it, I just can’t… “Hey Emma! Happy Birthday!”, I cheered as I placed the neatly wrapped present in front of her. “Thanks Xeno!”. I could see a smile on her face but it felt a bit off… Is that jealousy? But what could Emma be jealous of? “That’s all. I’m outta here”. I watch as Draken walked off with a smile. My heart sunk as I felt that it was my fault but I quickly pushed it away as Emma hugged the plushie Draken gave tightly to her chest. “Hehe!”. I watched as Emma walked off with Hina and Takemichi while. Yamagishi and Naoto were left behind with heartbroken faces. “Well… I’d better be off. See you later Xeno!”. I turned around with a panicked face at being left alone but Shinichiro was already gone by the time I turned around. “I should also get-“. “Xeno. Come with me”. I froze as Mikey commanded me to, instead of asking and I knew I didn’t have a choice in this. He led me a few blocks away to a nearby park as he took a seat on the bench. “Sit”. I felt a swarm of bees in my stomach instead of butterflies as I sat on the edge. “Xeno… why did you join Valhalla?”. I kept silent until I decided to come up with a passable lie. “I had my reasons… and because of it Baji…”. “Xeno. It’s not your fault. None of us blame you for what happened. Baji stabbed himself so we’d forgive Kazutora. Not for you to feel guilty. So please talk to us”. “I just… I just don’t know how to forgive myself for it”. “You don’t need to. We’ll forgive you instead. But if that still isn’t enough, promise to stay with Toman forever. Then you’ll never be able to hurt any of us”. He comforted me as he snuggled into my side, shoving his head into my neck. “Okay… I’ll stay with Toman Manjiro. I promise I’ll never leave”.

3RD PERSONS POV

“Well, you all heard that didn’t you?”. “Mhm. Guess we don’t need to worry anymore”. “Baji can stay at my place. We already discussed it with his mom and she was fine with it, even relieved”. “Pfft. Baji was always a handful”. “We also bribed the police. They agreed to let us use the prison when needed so Kazutora is going back to living in his old house”. “We need to make sure Xeno doesn’t find out”. “I know. Which is why from now on, we’re gonna have eyes on him everywhere”.
