Sooner or later, with or without a certain somebody's permission, Thursday morning eventually came.
Jungkook groaned loudly at the sound of his alarm going off, loathing the obnoxious tune. He sat up just enough to turn it off, then slammed his body back into the sheets, closing his eyes and allowing himself a few more minutes of rest.
He quietly cursed his profession, aware that it was barely past 5 a.m. and he was already forced to get up and get ready for work.
He refused.
He turned on his side, cuddling himself deeper into the thick blanket that he pulled over his head. A smile bloomed on his face and he wiggled his toes happily, forgetting about any obligations for a second.
He yawned, his head leaning heavily on the welcoming pillow. He was exhausted and his neck hurt. He figured he had slept in a weird position again. His tongue traced the surface of his palate, which was dry and rough after a night of sleeping with his mouth agape. He needed water, but it was so far... He wanted to stay in bed for a few more minutes. Maybe five, maybe ten... just a little more and then... he would get up... for sure.
Wait, what was he so sure of? He couldn't remember what he had been thinking about. Reluctantly, he sat upright, knowing he was on the verge of falling back to sleep.
He dragged a heavy hand across his face, still not quite opening his eyes. The pitch-black darkness outside didn't help stirring him out of his slumber either, if anything being one more indicator that he should go back to sleep.
The back of his head pounded dully and his entire body felt heavy and stiff. He slowly brushed his fingers across the cool sheets, bringing his knees up to his chest before finally, finally prying his eyes open.
He got out of bed and dragged his body to the bathroom, tiptoeing on the cold tile. He faced away from the door and tightly closed his eyes before flicking on the light. He then peeked from under his lashes, letting his eyes adjust to the mellow figment of light before slowly turning to the door and being hit by the bright emissions of the light bulb.
He immediately squinted and stepped inside, washing his hands, rinsing his dry mouth and splashing some water on his face.
He then turned off the light and headed to the kitchen through the darkness of his apartment, bumping his hip against the corner of the island.
Hissing through gritted teeth, he rubbed over the wounded spot, limping the rest of the way to the fridge.
He took out some side dishes, a box of rice and a jar of milk and set them all before him on the table, then he sat down, with a pair of chopsticks and a spoon in hand. Then he digged in, a sudden famish washing over him.
Once done with breakfast, he cleared the table, placing the dirty dishes in the sink and leaving them there to wait until he returned in the evening.
He hastily made his bed and got dressed, not bothering to even turn on the lights anymore. He quickly stripped out of his large shirt and shorts, shivering when he felt the cold on his warm skin. He grabbed his shirt from the hanger and quickly put it on, wrapping it tightly around his body and just relishing in its warmth for a few moments. He felt for the buttons in the dark, buttoning up his shirt before pulling on his suit jacket. He fished his pants from his chair and hopped into them, tugging his shirt inside and buckling his belt. Lastly, he wrapped a tie around his neck, tying it loosely. Then Taehyung's words popped uninvited inside his head and he begrudgingly tightened the knot, leaving just enough space to breathe.
He entered the hallway while simultaneously putting on his socks, hopping on one foot until he reached a wall to lean on for support. He slipped his feet into a pair of black Oxfords, then sat up to look at himself in the mirror as he pulled on his coat, arranging it on his shoulders with maybe a little more care than usually. When he deemed himself presentable, he grabbed his keys, phone and wallet from the counter and left the house, not without tripping on the threshold first.
