Taehyung left his office at 6.45 P.M.
At 6.49, he was downstairs, heading to the reception desk with rapid steps - he had spotted Jungkook ever since he exited the elevator.
He prepared to call after the younger, but changed his mind right before doing so, slowing his steps and quietly approaching the front desk, where Jungkook was rearranging the entire stationary.
"Excuse me, where can I find Attorney Kim's office?" Taehyung asked politely, leaning on his elbow with his chin in his palm.
"You can take the elevator to the 12th floor, his office is the third door on the right," Jungkook replied, before looking up. Taehyung's heart clenched when he saw the younger's eyes crinkle with a smile when he saw him.
"But I would assume you already know that."
He put away the box of pens he was sorting out and leaned closer to Taehyung.
"Are you done for tonight?"
Taehyung nodded against his palm.
"We can leave right now if you want."
Jungkook looked around, his smile fading.
"I should wait here until Jiyeong returns, she made me in charge of the reception desk while she went to the bathroom..."
Taehyung stood up a little and looked around as well, the young woman nowhere in sight.
"Then I guess we wait."
"Sorry," Jungkook muttered, drumming his fingers against the desk. "I have a box of markers if you want to help me go through them."
Taehyung chuckled, nodding.
"Sure, why not."
Jungkook's smile returned and he pushed the box closer to Taehyung, grabbing half of the markers.
"What exactly do we do with these?" The attorney asked, grabbing the other half.
"We check that they're all still functional and sort them by colour," he indicated, gesturing towards three imaginary piles.
"Got it. Do you have a paper?"
"Yeah, here." Jungkook offered him a post-it note, sticking it to the desk in front of Taehyung. "Actually, do you want to come here?" He proposed, tilting his head towards the inside of the desk. "There's another chair if you want to sit."
Taehyung smiled a little, feeling like he was invited to a group project. He circled the desk and joined Jungkook, sitting down next to him.
"Hi," the younger greeted, giving him a fleeting look before focusing back on his task.
"Hi."
They went through the markers in silence, oblivious to the curious stares they earned themselves from other attorneys passing by. Soon, they had three even piles in front of them, and two unlucky markers in the trash.
"Won't miss Kim be upset that we rearranged her things?" Taehyung wondered, a little tardily.
"Yeah, she will. But I do this all the time, so it's okay," Jungkook brushed it off. "She loves me anyway."
Taehyung's hand hesitated before grabbing the next marker.
It's not your place to ask, Taehyung, he told himself, knowing that him and Jungkook were not close enough to discuss this topic.
Yet, honestly speaking, he was very curious now. Was Jungkook seeing someone? The concept seemed strange to Taehyung. Jungkook didn't quite fit the typical boyfriend style, he was rather... naive, if that was a fit way to call it. Childish, in a good way. The kind of guy who, if you sat down on his lap, would start to tickle you.
