"How does it feel?" Bella-Rose asked, standing beside him.
The pair were on top of their lairs roof, enjoying the silence and the sight of the town below them. They'd spent most of the day together, working on their latest assignment.
"It feels like I've got an extra spring in my step," Callum replied. "And I'm starting to notice that people are reacting to me more positively than they did before."
Bella-Rose smiled, her eyes focusing on the gemstones on the pendant around his neck. She had a small feeling of jealousy, but she hid it well from him. After all, she knew how much effort he put into getting to where he was now. It wasn't easy to be this powerful, but with their training and the obvious favouritism shown by Wedferdoor, Chief Death was quickly rising up the ranks.
"I'm proud of you, Callum," she said softly, placing a hand on his shoulder.
He grinned and shook his head. "You've done so much for me, Megan. You don't know how much you mean to me. You're the world's greatest sister."
She blushed slightly, her cheeks turning bright red. "Thank you, Callum."
Chief Death crossed his arms as he peered down at the necklace around his neck. He could feel the power coursing through it, with the green gems embedded in the gold glowing brightly. The power had been growing steadily since Wedferdoor gifted it to him instead of his sister. He assumed it was a reward for being the leader's right-hand man
