~ Chapter Eighteen ~

KING POV

Entering our chambers I knew straight away Y/N wasn't here. Gritting my teeth I pinched the bridge of my nose calming myself before turning to the door, opening it to glare at one of the elite guards standing there. "Send for Lord Adam, I want him here with a report on my intendeds activities from the day in less than ten minutes" The man bowed all but running off to search for his commander. No doubt Adam was on patrol, he took his job as captain of the elite guard very seriously even if he was always attempting to seem like he didn't. Turning back into the room I began looking around the room, annoyance building as I found not only had Y/N a bath without me but she had changed and left knowing I would be coming. The last few days I had been pushing little by little to get her ready for our wedding night. Closing my eyes I could still feel her body responding to me the last time I held her, how she squirmed as I ran my hands over her hips threatening to dip in between her thighs. 

I had planned to continue where we left off this morning in our bath, but it seemed Y/N wanted to be more difficult than usual today. That did little to help me tame the now stirring part of me in anyway, all it did was make me want to take her over my knee again. Mother was already making it incredibly clear she was both proud and frustrated, with how Y/N had suddenly decided to take a more prominent role making final decisions on our wedding. Objecting to or outright fighting many of the choices she had put down before final review. Since I had pulled the date forward Mother had been pulled away to deal with many matters with me, so Y/N had been given far more control than planned to begin with. Though I admitted letting myself fall back into the closest chair her organization skills were impressive. Whatever she had been left in charge of in her previous role had kept her mind sharp.

Three hard knocks landed on the door bringing me back from my thoughts. "Enter" I grunted the word far louder than intended but seeing Adam's face come inside I felt no guilt for it. His smirk seeing me just made me want to wipe the smug look away, he was lucky our friendship gave him a measure of safety. "Our soon to be Queen has run you ragged already? I can't wait until you have children to keep you on your toes" Sitting up I scowled at him the best I could but there was no real hate in it, I knew Adam well enough that I knew he meant well. That aside these rare moments when we joked with each other when we were alone were enjoyable, it helped to draw me back from the brink of madness dealing with royal affairs. "I will take great pleasure in making sure said children, are under your direct supervision so you can enjoy being on your toes as well" His face of staged horror had us both chuckling, waving my hand I stopped us both before I forgot what I called him for. 

"Which reminds me, I didn't call you to talk about you becoming my future nursemaid" Pushing myself up I slowly began pacing, letting each step land slow and steady on the floor. "Tell me what my intended has been up to, and more importantly where she is now" The change in the air around us was noticeable, gone was the lighter atmosphere replaced with a more tensed serious one. "Well I have briefed all her escorts and it seems her highness has been rather active today. She has seen to all of the final preparations for the wedding, tended to that beast of a horse of hers with the supporting help of her chosen hands. Then after lunch she received another messenger, after that she appeared to be rushing to complete the last few tasks she took on" Humming I continued to pace, my teeth tightening as I listened needing to know the rest of the report before I acted.
