Not Your Typical Love Story- Minx and Krism

Chapter 5

Minx's POV

I woke to the sun shining through the curtains onto my bed. I blinked a few times before becoming aware of the presence of someone else in my bed. I turned my head and jumped slightly to see a girl with black hair sleeping peacefully at my side. She looked so adorable while asleep.

I widened my eyes at this thought and shook my head. "Stop it Minx! You're just half asleep. You don't actually believe what you're thinking!"

"What are you thinking, Minx?" I jumped at this intrusion and turned to look at the girl, I think her name is Krism, who was smiling deviously at me. I blushed at her smile and looked down.

"It's none of your business." Krism chuckled and smirked, before moving in close and whispering in my ear.
"Your blush says otherwise"
A shiver went down my spine, and just as I was about to speak, I heard a knock on the door.
"Minx! Breakfast is ready. Get dressed and head down.

I frowned and stood up before pointing to the bathroom.
"There's the bathroom. Go get dressed and stay until I'm ready. I'll knock on when I'm done and we can head down. Put on something other than a dress. If you're living around here, you have to engage with certain activities."

At this, Krism nodded and mock-bowed.
"As you wish, your highness. I'll try not to come out when you're still getting dressed." She winked before shutting the door.

The second I heard the lock click, I sighed and picked up a t-shirt and a pair of comfy pants. Today, I had to show Krism the town we lived in. It wasn't too big but it was filled with many sights. And just my luck, I had to show her around. After getting changed, I knocked on the bathroom door.
"Krism? You ready?" I heard a faint "Yeah!" from in the bathroom and theory clicked open. When Krism walked out, I couldn't help but stare. Her clothes perfectly accentuated her form and it made her look amazing.

"Like something you see?" I jumped when she spoke and looked at her before reporting gruffly. "I was just making sure your clothes were suitable for today's activities."

With that, I walked downstairs and motioned her to follow. I led her to the kitchen where a table of food was situated. On the table, there was a wide variety of foods- bacon, eggs, toast, waffles and syrup.
"Eat up. We've got a long day ahead of us and this is all we have until 1." Krism nodded and we both sat down. I placed some waffles, bacon and syrup on a plate and Krism had some bacon and eggs. We ate slowly and when we finished, I stood up.

"Come on Krism. I have to show you around so you know where you're going." She started following me and I took her outside.

First, I took her through the main park. It was a posh looking place with a fountain in the middle. We didn't live in a big town. It was fairly small compared to neighbouring areas. Despite this, it was usually nice and peaceful.

Unlike other towns, ours was pretty safe. A lot of areas near ours had large supplies of weapons, but in our town, civilians weren't allowed weapons. This made it easier to wander around.

I turned to Krism.
"Alright. I'm not going to show you the whole town because a lot of it is irrelevant." I pointed to a shaded area opposite to the direction of the mansion. "That area is dangerous. All they sell there is drugs and dangerous contraptions. Most people who live there have weapons that even the royal guard have no access to. You shouldn't ever go there." Krism was nodding as she listened to what I was saying.

"Alright, we should probably go that way." I pointed to an area which had many stalls and shops. "There is a lot of important things there." I led Krism through the many stalls and told her which ones were important. I then took her into a bar. She gave me a quizzical look which I ignored and smiled. I walked up to the counter and spoke to my friend who was taking orders
"Red! Can I have two of the usual please? I have a guest."
"Coming right up Minx." Red looked at Krism and chuckled. "Who is this? Your girlfriend?"

"Well, not yet. I'll probably be her girlfriend s-"
"Never!" I cut in. "She'll never be my girlfriend." Krism frowned at this, as did Red.
"Minx. If we're going to get married, you need to realise we will have to start dating eventually." I felt my heart stop and realised it was true. I sighed is resignation and looked back to Red who had our drinks in her hands. Cry was stood behind her with his mask on.
"Hey Minxie! So your family have hooked you up with someone?" He held his hand to his heart and started being dramatic. "And here I thought I was going to be the one to marry you..." Red put the glasses down and hit him over the head. "Shut up and get back to work." She then looked at me. "The drinks are free. You can take them with you if you want. Since you're probably pretty busy." We all said our goodbyes and me and Krism left.

~Time skip to the evening~

Sighing happily, I looked at the sky. The sun was just going down so the sky was a pink colour. It set the perfect atmosphere in the park. I looked at Krism who was watching me.
"When are we heading back? I'm enjoying spending time here but it's getting cold."
"We can head back now if you want. I'm getting a bit cold too." Krism nodded and stood up, holding out her hand for me to grab. I took it and stood up. We were about to leave when a voice cut through the air.

"How cute. A couple of royals walking in the park."

I stiffened. That voice didn't sound good. I put my hand in my pocket and mentally cursed. I hadn't brought my knife with me. I spun around to confront the man and pushed Krism behind me.
"Hello sir. What is it you want?" The man smirked widely and replied in a rough voice.
"I want both of you to come with me. I'm sure we could make a good amount of money from royals." I stepped back slightly out of fear but then got into a defensive crouch. I refused to show fear. I was about to speak when Krism stepped in front of me, holding a dagger. "Touch either one of us and I'll personally rip your throat out." The man smirked and moved towards Krism who held the knife to his throat. The man winced before whistling.

"Krism, let's g-" I was cut off by a hand clasping over my mouth. My eyes widened and I let out a muffled scream. Krism turned me and growled, before knocking the man next to her out. She then ran to the man holding me and kicked him between the legs. This made him let go and Krism picked me up and carried me back to the castle.

AN: I've changed a couple of things a bit further back. Mainly, I've changed it so Krism and Minx are both of royalty rather that just nobility. I'm trying to make it so that they live in a Victorian/Steampunk world too. :)

I'm sorry about the delay. I was caught up with a bad case of writers block so as an apology, I've written an extra long chapter.
