Minx's POV

I frowned and looked at the ground. I guess what I'd said was a little harsh... I opened my mouth to apologise but froze when I heard her sigh. I looked up at her and she smirked at me.

"So? You gonna apologise?" She smirked slightly and I frowned before muttering a quiet "sorry". I heard her laugh behind me so I quickly spun around to look at her. She was giggling at me. I felt my cheeks burn. She looked so pretty. No, scratch that. She's not pretty and I hate her.

"You're so easy to manipulate." She froze.  "Though, I don't want to manipulate you if we're going to marry." I glared at her but kept my mouth shut.

Krism moved to sit next to me and she put her arm around my shoulder , causing me to tense up and go to push her away.
"Loosen up. I'm not gonna hurt you." She smiled before standing again and looking at the door, which was now open. Mother stood there with a wide smile.

Groaning, I pushed Krism away and stood up with a defiant scowl.
"I knew you two would get along." I narrowed my eyes at her and glared at Krism. I refused to be seen close to her.

However, just my luck that Krism would come along, put her arm over my shoulder and smile.
"Yup. We've already learned a bit about each other." I glared at her before looking off to the side.

Mother clapped her hands together.
"Excellent. Well, it's been decided that Krism will be coming to live at our mansion for the next two years as Minx has duties to attend at our castle."

I inwardly groaned.
"Can't she stay here and I'll come and visit her?"
"No. She is coming to live with us." Mother spoke with a firm voice, one that meant there was no changing her mind. I frowned before nodding and muttering "fine."

~Time skip to in the coach on the way home~

Yawning, I looked out the window to watch the trees seemingly rush past in the dark. It was about 10 pm and I was really tired but refused to fall asleep with my intended next to me.

I sighed, wanting nothing more to be home. But, thanks to mother needing to do various things on the way home, it would take about 3 hours to get home.

Krism must've heard my sigh because she moved closer to me and pulled me into a hug. Forgetting about my hate for her, I allowed myself to melt into the embrace and closed my eyes. I knew I was giving in, but right now, I didn't care.

I felt myself relax more and more as I listened to the steady beat of Krism's heart and eventually I fell into a contented slumber.
