The next morning Sarah was sitting around the kitchen table with Tatum and Sidney as Mrs. Riley made breakfast. Dewey was up and already in uniform talking on the phone in the corner. Mrs. Riley was trying to get Sidney and Tatum to stay home with Sarah but they would budge. The television in the corner startled them all when the Prescott's names were said.
It was some reporter doing a news story on how Sidney and Sarah had survived an attack by the killer. Then the reporter started talking about their mothers case. Sarah rolled her eyes, she was tired of anytime something happened with her and Sidney their mothers murder was always mentioned. As soon as they showed Cotton Weary Sidney asked, "It's never going to stop. Is it?"
They ate in silence until Dewey came over, "Billy was released. His cellular bill was clean. He didn't make those calls."
Sarah froze as Sidney said, " Somebody called me Dewey, I'm not making that up."
He nodded, "I know. We're checking every cellular account in the county. Any calls made to you and Casey Becker are being cross-referenced. It might take some time but we'll find him."
Sarah sighed, "Any word on our Dad?"
Dewey shakes his head, "No."
They all finish their breakfast in silence. Dewey drops Tatum and Sidney off at school before driving Sarah to the station. When they got there he walked her to Sheriff Burke's office.
When Burke sees them he says, "Sarah, how are you? Have a seat."
"I'm okay just stove up. My shoulder is sore and I'll get dizzy from time to time but other than that fine."
"Good. Can you tell us in you own words what happened last night?"
She nodded, "Cole and I were upstairs taking a nap. Sidney had said she was going to wait for Tatum downstairs. We were asleep for a couple of hours; we woke up to Sidney running up the stairs screaming. Cole jumped up to go see what was happening and I grabbed the baseball bat fron my closet and followed. There was someone in a white mask that looked almost like a ghost, dressed in all black standing outside Sid's door with a knife trying to get in."
She stopped and took a deep breath, "Cole ran over and pulled the guy away from Sid's door. They fought around for a minute before the attacker got the upper hand and stabbed Cole in the stomach. That's when I got his attention by yelling. I swung at him with my bat but missed, he stabbed me in the shoulder and knocked me out. The next thing I know I'm waking up in the hospital."
"Did the attacker say anything?" the sheriff asked.
She shook her head, "Not that I heard, no."
He was quiet while writing his notes. When he was finished he said, "Your free to go but if you can think of anything let us know."
He stood and walked her out of the office. Dewey came running up to them, "Sidney was attacked at school."
The sheriff swore, "Is she okay?"
"Yeah, just shook up. There's no way of knowing if it was the killer or someone playing a trick on her. Either way school has been canceled for now, until the killers been caught."
"Go to the school and pick Sidney up. Don't let her or Sarah out of your sight," Burke demanded.
Dewey nodded, "Come on Sar lets go get Sid and Tatum."
He led her out to his patrol car and they headed towards the school. They picked up Sidney and Tatum who informed her of the party at Stu's. She wasn't really in the mood for a party but still let them convince her to go. Afterall it's just a party, what could go wrong?
