After getting dropped off at the Riley's house Sarah sat on the front porch waiting for Sidney and Tatum to get ready. As they walked back outside she could hear them talking about her mother.
"Maybe Cotton Weary is telling the truth. Maybe he was having an affair with your mother."
Sarah snaps her head towards Tatum as the words leave her mouth, "Our mother never would have touched him. There's no way they were having an affair."
"So you think our mom was a slut too?" Sidney asked.
Tatum sighed, "I didn't say that. But you know there are rumors. Its just that your dad is always out of town on business. Maybe your mom was just a very unhappy woman and didn't want to let you know."
Sarah stayed quiet as Sidney answered, "If they were having an affair then how come Cotton couldn't prove it in court?"
"You can't prove a rumor Sid, that's why its a rumor."
"Yeah created by that little tabloid twit, Gale Weathers," added Sid.
Sarah sighed, "Sid, Cole told me a while back that he had heard rumors of others. Men that Mom was having affairs with."
Sidney glared at her, "Why didn't you say anything?"
"Because I had no proof! I wasn't about to implode our family over something that I wasn't 100% sure about. How did we even get on this subject anyway? What made you even think about Cotton Weary?"
"I had a conversation with Gale outside the school today," Sid paused, "Something the killer said on the phone the other night put questions in my head. I just wanted to see if Cotton had changed his story at all, and he hasn't."
Sarah looked at her, "Do you think that you identified the wrong man?"
"No, I don't know. Its just if I was wrong about Cotton than that means that the killer is still out there."
Tatum jumps up, "No, don't go there Sid. Your starting to sound like some Wes Carpenter flick. Don't freak yourself out- we've got a long night ahead of us."
"Tate's right Sid," Sarah stated, "Lets just go get the food and head to Stu's."
Sidney sighed, "You're right, I'm freaking out over nothing. Let's go."
Sarah stands up, "Let's go back inside and see if Dewey is ready yet. I'll see if I have enough time to call and check on Cole."
They all walk into the house, not seeing the masked figure in the bushes. When they get inside Tatum and Sidney go find Dewey while Sarah picks up the phone to call the hospital and check on Cole. As she dials the number, she sees the girls and Dewey making their way to the door. She decides to put the phone back and just wait until they get to Stu's house and call.
