Once Sarah was loaded into an ambulance and taken to the hospital she was in surgery for hours to stop the internal bleeding. When she woke hours later she saw Cole sitting with his head laid on the bed next to her asleep. She smiled and started running her fingers through his hair. He starts to stir and when he realizes that she's awake he jumps up as best he can and kisses her.
"Oh baby, I'm so glad your awake," he rubs his hand across her face.
She smiles, "I love you."
He kisses her again, "I love you too. Now get some rest, I'll be here when you wake up."
She grins and lays back. She feels herself slipping into unconsciousness.
The next time she wakes up Cole is no longer there but both her father and sister are sitting by her bedside watching tv. She sits up as best as she can, "Where's Cole?"
Her dad sat up, "He had to go back to his room so the doctors could give him one last look over before they discharged him. How are you feeling?"
"Sore," she grins, "How are you two doing?"
Sidney gets up and sits on the edge of her bed, "Better now that you are awake."
She grins at her sister, "When can I go home?"
Sidney shares a look with their father, "The doctors said they want to keep you for the next couple of days to observe and make sure that everything is good."
She sighs and leans back into the pillows, "Oh goodie."
It was going to be a long couple of days.

The next few days Sarah sat in the hospital bored out of her mind. Just waiting for the doctors to discharge her. The only good thing was that Cole stayed with her the entire time. She filled him in on everything that happened and had to comfort him when he broke down out of guilt that he wasn't there to protect her.
After she was released from the hospital she had hoped that things would go back to normal, but she should have known that was a pipe dream. Everywhere she went there were eyes on her. It was the same way for Cole, Sidney, Randy and Dewey. People would either walk on eggshells around them or treat them like pariahs. Sarah would rather have people be straight and blunt with her than handle her with kid gloves. Eventually she got tired of caring about what others thought and she decided that after everything they'd been through they deserved to live their lives normally. Well as normally as they could.
Until Gale released her book and then things only seemed to get worse for them. They just wanted to keep their heads down and graduate without drawing attention to themselves but that all went in smoke when the book came out. Sarah for one was out for blood when the book was released, Gale had already turned their lives into a circus once before and now she had done it again. It was smart of Gale to keep her distance.
After a couple of weeks they thought things had calmed down and then Sidney and Sarah saw Cotton in town one day and that just solidified their minds on getting out of Woodsboro. It was almost like fate that their entire friend group was accepted into Windsor College.
A fresh start was all that any of them wanted.
