Sarah smiles as she watches her husband Cole run up the driveway followed by their golden retriever Max. The last three years have been peaceful for the two. They moved into the California mountains with her sister Sidney, choosing to live away from civilization. The less people there are around you the less likely there is to be someone that wants to murder you.

Cole comes onto the porch and flops down on the bench next to Sarah. He leans over and kisses her, "How was your run?" she asks when they break apart.

"Good, Max wanted to run off and chase squirrels a couple of times but other than that it was good."

He looked inside the house, "Sidney still working the hotline?"

Sarah nodded, "Yeah. I've already got my work sent in for the day. What time do you have to be at the garage?"

"I've got a couple of hours before Bob expects me," he answered.

They sat there basking in the peacefulness of the nature around them until Sidney's dog Cherokee came bounding out of the house followed by Max. They looked over to see Sidney walking out onto the porch, she had this horrified look on her face.

Sarah stood up and walked over to her, "What is it Sidney?"

"Cotton Weary and his girlfriend were murdered last night."

Sarah froze, "What?"

Cole stood and walked towards them, "This doesn't mean anything. Cotton pissed a lot of people off. It doesn't have to have anything to do with us."

Sidney cut her eyes at him, "He just finished filming his cameo in the new STAB movie yesterday and then he and his girlfriend were butchered last night. That can't be a coincidence."

Cole wrapped his arms around them both, "It has to be a coincidence for all our sakes. It has to be. We can't afford for it to be anything else."

They stood there like that for a few minutes before Cole looked at the clock, "I've got to go to work. I want you guys to lock the doors and not go anywhere, not even outside until  your dad comes by tonight or until I get back from work."

Sidney looked at him, "I thought you said this had nothing to do with us?"

"The chance is slim to none but I'm not taking any chances," he pauses looking at Sarah, "especially not now."

"What do you mean 'especially now'?" Sidney asked.

Sarah stares hard at her husband, "We just found out that I'm nine weeks pregnant. We were going to wait until I was out of the first trimester to say anything."

Sidney hugged her tight, "Oh I'm so happy for you guys! You're going to be great parents."

Cole sighed, "I just thought that maybe if someone else knew there would be one more person to help me keep an eye on you just in case shit hits the fan," he pulls Sarah to him, "I don't know what I would do if something bad happened to the two of you. I just want to keep you as safe as possible."

"Don't worry, I'll look out for her. Nothing is going to happen on my watch," Sidney stated.

Cole kissed Sarah, "I'm going to get ready for work. I'll see you guys tonight."

"I wanted to tell you but I am terrified that something is going to happen before this baby is born. I've survived a lot but I don't think I could survive losing it."

Sidney placed her arm around Sarah, "Nothing is going to happen to you or the baby, in roughly seven or so months you and Cole will hold your baby for the first time and all these fears will be whispers in the wind. Now come on, I bet my niece or nephew has to be starving."

After eating the girls sat on the couch talking about anything they could to keep their minds off of what was going on in the real world.

"What do you want the baby to be?" Sid asked.

Sarah shrugged, "I don't care if its a boy or a girl, as long as it's healthy. That's all I want is for the baby to be healthy. Which given our past isn't always a given."

Sidney grabbed her hand, "Everything is going to be fine. Have you thought about how you're going to tell Dad that your pregnant?"

Sarah shrugged, "I guess I'll tell him whenever he stops by tonight," she paused, "I just wish that Mom was here to see this. I know that she and I didn't always get along, but it would be nice to have someone to give me advice. "

"I know but look on the bright side, you still have Cole's mom to get advice from and I'm sure that Dad might have more insight than you would think. If nothing else we'll read every pregnancy book ever written. We'll be experts by the time the baby comes."

Sarah smiled at Sidney, thankful for her sisters words, "Now lets watch some tv. Get our minds off of things."

She turned the tv on and it seemed like every channel they flipped past was either talking about Cotton's murder or the STAB franchise. They couldn't get away from it no matter what they did.

Sarah sighed, "We might as well talk about it. It's not going to go away if we pretend that it didn't happen."

"I don't want to stress you out, especially now that your pregnant."

"I appreciate that but not talking about it makes it just as stressful as talking about it," Sarah stated.

Sidney sighed, "I think its happening again. I don't think its a coincidence."

"Something definitely feels off about it. I was hoping it was just a one off thing, that someone was pissed off about the movie. I don't think we could have that sort of luck. Every time we convince ourselves that it has nothing to do with us it somehow does."

Sidney nodded, "I know. It's just that whenever one of us has this feeling it normally turns out extremely shitty for us."

"Exactly. Which is what I was trying to get Cole to understand. The whole world isn't going to stop just because I'm pregnant and the psychopaths sure as hell won't stop. He just wants us to have a normal life and raise our baby in peace but our lives haven't been normal for a long damn time," Sarah finished.

Sidney just wrapped her arms around Sarah and pulled her close to her side, "We'll be okay matter what."

They sat there in silence until they heard a knock on the door and their father announcing his arrival.
