Sorry for the late update, I've been busy lately and not quite feeling it. But I'll continue to post :)

Kakashi finished signing the last papers on his desk. He had been rushing his work all morning for this moment, not allowing himself a break. It was still early, and he'd normally stay working for a few more hours, but today he wouldn't, no matter what.

He sighed upon finishing, and without waiting for another second, he stood up, put down his Hokage robe, and grabbed his things from his office before he headed to the office door. He prayed that no one would appear at the last minute, that there wasn't an emergency meeting or someone that needed his help. He prayed none of that happened because if it did, he wouldn't hesitate to ignore them. But when he left the office, no one appeared, and if they did once he was gone... well, Shikamaru would take care of it since he knew Kakashi would leave early today to pick up his son from the Academy.

Yes, that was the reason why Kakashi had been rushing his work all day so that he was on time to pick up his boy. It was normally (Y/n) the one to pick him up, but last night the 5-year-old seemed rather intent on having his father pick him up. So of course, he couldn't disappoint his son.

Kakashi was one of the first parents to arrive, the kids hadn't even finished classes yet. And few a minutes later, (Y/n) appeared as well. He saw her arriving from far away, and when she noticed him she smiled warmly. He couldn't help but smile, he always did whenever he saw her, even after long-married.

"You managed to get on time," she spoke when she reached his side, not knowing the amount of work he had done during the morning in order to actually arrive on time. Maybe this was the first time he had ever been on time.

And then, she stood on her tiptoes, slightly unhooked his mask, and placed a short yet soft peck on the verge of his lips before covering him up again. It left him stunned for a second. No matter how many years they had been together, how many kisses they shared, and how many more lewd things they did to each other, her mere touch and presence still managed to give him butterflies. He's always left staring at her with love in his eyes, and right now he'd like to pull down his mask to properly kiss her, but since some people were looking at them (like it normally happened when Kakashi was around the village) he ended up deciding against it. Instead, he entwined his hand with hers and kissed her forehead with his mask on.

"I managed to get out early," he answered, although it wasn't like someone could force him to stay anyway.

Right after, the high-pitched and excited sounds of kids beamed through the place, and a sea of children emerged from inside the building. Both (Y/n) and Kakashi turned to them, quickly spotting their silver-haired baby. Even if he wasn't a baby anymore, he would always be to them, especially (Y/n).

The boy, who had a purple scarf covering his face and had his mother's eyes quickly said goodbye to his friends and ran to his parents upon seeing his father. But when he reached them, he seemed unbothered, as if he hadn't almost thrown a tantrum last night when asking for his dad to pick him up.

Kakashi had been imagining what his son's reaction would be when he saw him, wondering if he'd jump to him, hug him... but he did none of that, instead, he just held their parent's hands, standing in the middle of them as they walked away. He felt a little disappointed, but he was happy to have him nevertheless. However, things changed when they turned a corner. Once the school wasn't in sight anymore the kid let go of his mom and hugged his dad's leg, asking to be picked up, and so, Kakashi obliged with a wide smile under his mask.

"Give him a kiss," (Y/n) said to the boy, caressing his small back, also happy to see his joyous expression. And so, the kid threw his shorter arms around Kakashi's neck and left a sloppy kiss on his masked cheek, making Kakashi chuckle and leave another kiss on his son's tiny cheek, which made the kid even happier.

"Can we go eat ice cream?" the child asked as his father placed him on his shoulders.

"Why don't we buy some on our way to the river?" (Y/n) suggested as she and Kakashi had planned an afternoon by the river, fishing and probably training together like Kakashi used to do with his father.

The kid beamed happily, moving his hands over his father's silver hair and disheveling it even further. But Kakashi didn't mind, he never did when (Y/n) played with his hair, leaving it always more of a mess than it usually was, and so, he obviously didn't mind when it was his son the ont to do it.

"What did you do today?" Kakashi asked the little boy, who started kicking his legs excitedly upon telling him what they had done in class, what he had done with his friends, and what he had learned.

"Mommy, can Yuta and Mirai come tomorrow to play?" Sakuto asked after telling them about his day and about one of his new classmates, this being Yuta.

"Of course, honey" his mom answered.

"Can they stay for dinner?" he asked as well.

"Sure, but I would need to speak with their parents," she added.

"Yuta has two mommies," the kid suddenly said "Why does he have two mommies?" he asked, tugging at his father's hair, thinking it was sad that Yuta didn't have a father like Kakashi.

"Some kids have two mommies," Kakashi was the one to answer "some have two daddies, some have a mommy and a daddy... all families look different"

There was a short silence for a moment as if the boy was imagining all different kinds of families there could exist, and then he spoke "I wish I had two mommies"

(Y/n) couldn't help but giggle, while Kakashi felt personally attacked, although he remained unbothered on the outside. After all, this wasn't the first time his son had said something hurtful. At least his comments weren't always directed to him, they normally were made to strangers, and on rare occasion, they were directed to (Y/n). Kids can be cruel, or at least that's what people say. Even though Kakashi knows there's no malice in his son's words, he still felt kind of dejected.

"But then you wouldn't have daddy," (Y/n) said, and the kid tugged at Kakashi's hair harder, making the father flinch.

"But I love daddy!" he answered "I want two mommies and daddy"

"Mmh... Two (Y/n)s..." Kakashi muttered with a low nod, imagining it too but probably imagining it quite differently than his son.
