Tw: Injury, sad vibes

Three days. It's been three days since Buck was allowed out of the hospital. Yet, despite their best efforts, the team couldn't help but hover. They knew they shouldn't and they knew Buck would eventually start to get annoyed with them, though he'd never tell them that. But no matter how badly they tried, they couldn't stop themselves from texting, calling, or visiting. They knew after the second day that Buck was starting to get a bit...restless. Buck was a free spirit, always looking for something new or exciting to do. Sitting around while waiting for his body to heal was never his strong suit, which only made the team more nervous. It wasn't just them either. Maddie had set up designated times for people to show up and discreetly check in on her little brother. She also noticed his restlessness and she was getting worried, to say the least. Unfortunately, Buck's nature was more persistent than her designated timings. There was a gap between 6 and 7 o'clock, which is when her phone buzzed.

Big Little Brother - Going out. Be back later.

Eddie looked up from his book, interest peaked at the rapid knocking at his door before a long pause. He got up slowly and walked to the door, opening it to reveal a very tired and annoyed Buck. Before he could speak, Buck glanced at him with tired eyes and put a hand in front of him.

"Don't ask me how I am." Short, simple, and worrying. Buck brushed past Eddie with a slight stumble before immediately dropping down onto his couch. Eddie, if not hesitantly, walked over to the side of him.

"So, beer?"

"Preferably more than one." Eddie nodded and left to the kitchen. When he came back, Buck was passed out on the couch, the frustrated lines on his forehead finally gone. Eddie watched in surprise for a minute before sarcastically holding up the opened bottle.

"Cheers."

When Buck woke again, it was dark and quiet. It was both nice and unnerving at the same time. He looked around aimlessly for a minute, gathering his bearings before remembering that he was at Eddie's house. Because he was on a couch. And Buck didn't own a couch. He slowly got up from the couch, wincing at the pain that shot through his shoulder. Noticing the faint glow in the kitchen, Buck walked towards it while also discreetly trying to stretch his bad leg out. He walked over to the table and slowly sat down, giving a small wave of greeting to Eddie, who was in the midst of making Christopher's lunch for tomorrow.

"How did I pass out so fast?" Buck's voice was tired, clearly needing more sleep than he got. Eddie shrugged in response, shooting him a quick glance before turning back to the sandwich.

"You fell asleep before I got the beers out of the fridge." Buck frowned, the stress lines appearing back on his face. Eddie hated those lines.

"Sorry..."

"Ah no worries. Still want that beer?" Eddie looked at Buck again, a smile playing on his lips. Buck managed a small grin.

"Uh, maybe just some water."

"Coming up." Eddie walked over to the fridge with a glass, very aware of Buck rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. He gently set the glass down in front of Buck, fighting the urge to run a hand through his sleep-messed hair.

"Thank you. You know you can still have one if you want." Buck mumbled sleepily, lazily reaching for the glass but not taking a drink. Instead, he looked at it, almost like it was a puzzle he was trying to solve. Eddie cleared his throat, hoping to pull Buck out of whatever trance he was in.
