"There is nothing better than a friend. Unless it is a friend with chocolate." - Linda Grayson
"Tell me why I'm here again..." The blonde asked the two girls seated before her. School hours were over and they were squatted on the floor, two mops lying in one corner.
"Because she is simply unbearable!" The red-head poked her finger into the brunette's forehead.
"You're the one who's unbearable!" Skylar retorted.
"Oh, yeah? Says the one who got us to miss the movie!" Mae shot back.
"It was your fault, not mine! Who was the one who poured paint in Heather's bag?"
"You and I both agreed on it!" The girl shot back.
"I never asked you to pour 2 whole bottles into it!"
"Well, I never asked you to laugh and give away our plan!"
"I couldn't help it! She looked hilarious!"
"Well, face it then. It's because of you we're cleaning the class instead of happily munching on some popcorn!"
Skylar gritted her teeth.
"What? Cat got your tongue?" Mae smirked.
"Guys..." Leah tried to interfere.
"I have a lot to say, I do! You've always been the trouble maker. And then you just blame others for it!"
"And you've always been no fun. Spoiling my plans every single time!" Mae retorted.
"GUYS!" Leah raised her voice, making the other two turn their attention towards her.
"What?" they asked in unison.
"Why exactly did you call me here?" Leah asked, clearly annoyed.
"To make you decide who's fault it was!" Skylar replied.
"There is no need, actually. We all already know it's Sky's fault." Mae put her hands behind her head and leaned back.
Skylar shook with anger. "No way! You're the one who always plays weird pranks on people. Just like how you dropped a spider on the teacher in 4th grade and she screamed so much her wig came off!"
"That was one of a kind," Mae grinned widely.
"It's nothing to be happy about. She called up my mom and gave a long lecture. I was grounded for a week!"
"Not my fault you began crying and made her assume it was you."
"But you should've told her it wasn't me!"
"And miss an entire week of dance practice? No thank you."
"About the dance, you even fiddled with our music system!" Skylar scowled.
"On the annual day? That was classic!" Mae chuckled.
"Nuh-uh! It was supposed to be ball music and you played rock!"
"And Cinderella fumbled only to stamp on her prince's foot! Man, you should've seen the expression on his face!" Mae bursted out laughing.
Skylar bit her lips, trying to fight a smile, reminding herself that she and her best friend were not on good terms.
"You've always been like this! Even in kindergarten." Skylar added.
"You mean when I placed a frog in your water bottle?" Mae snorted and Skylar remembered the horrific memory.
"My mom warned me to stay away from you but you..." Skylar shook her head.
"I just stuck around?" Mae gave a lopsided grin.
"Yeah.."
They both looked at each other intensely before bursting out, laughing. After their little laugh, Mae stood up and gave a hand to Skylar.
She smiled softly and took it only to let out a horrific shriek and fall back down when the slimy object touched her skin.
Mae chortled as she let her pet gecko swiftly climb to her shoulder.
"Catch ya later alligator!" And with that, Mae ran out, her giggles filling the corridors.
"You'll never change!" Skylar shouted and ran behind her, fist in the air.
And with that, Leah was left alone in the room, still trying to register what had happened.
When she did, she ran to the window and peeped down to see the two girls running the entire span of the school ground.
"Mae! I won't ever leave you!" Skylar yelled angrily as she tried to catch her friend.
"I won't ever leave you either!" Mae shouted back.
Though the two of them said it in a different way, the sentences held more meaning than it seemed.
Leah shook her head and smiled at the two.
"I am 100% sure you guys won't!"
