Chapter 17: Homesick

Engfa POV
Numerous meetings with MGI and privately with boss, we have come to a more peaceful solution on how to prevent being caught in this situation again. I personally addressed it over an emotional live with my fans giving them a transparent scope on the getaway trip. One thing I didn't mention was about my relationship with Dina. I went to Singapore as platonic friends, although she might've had a different agenda.

I was warned by multiple people, especially boss, on the intentions Dina might have with me. After some thorough thought I decided to remain a distance with Dina to focus better on my upcoming competition. She provided me great support and attention but being an outsider of the pageant industry, she tempts me into doing things Miss Grand would frown upon.

After returning from Singapore, the next few days was a well-being check. Boss arranged hospital visits for me and I had a new set of medicine prescribed for my depression. I attended lessons for MGI and my first schedule was with Charlotte.

The morning that Charlotte and I had a live to film, she comes from behind me and gives me a hug.

Char: P'Fa did you get my texts, how are you?

Fa: I saw them, thanks for the encouragement.

Char: Are you and boss okay now? Is there anything I can help you with?

Fa: We had a long talk, we're just as we were, don't worry.

Char: Okay, that's good to hear. The fans say you haven't be smiling lately (jokingly frown) I'll make you smile today.

Charlotte POV

Seeing P'Fa so down about this whole situation was really heartbreaking. I thought head about how to approach her, and tuning in all her schedules and live I noticed how discouraged she looked about the whole situation. Therefore, the best way I can approach her is as if nothing has changed. Putting aside her problem, putting aside the whole "no chance live", and putting aside Dina. My only aim for today is to bring peace to P'Fa and laughter.

The live was like any other. As if nothing happened. Although the happiness could be just a temporary feeling for P'Fa but seeing her laugh all live made me fulfill my role as a friend. Occasionally, I surprised her at her lessons, hopefully giving her the right kind of support. I could gradually see the old P'Fa resurface, the focused, goal oriented P'Fa. I just know she will dominate at MGI, there's no better representative of Thailand than her.

The morning of the send off, I make sure I was ready in time even though it was extremely early in the morning, fully ready by 4 am waiting for my ride to arrive. As we eagerly wait for P'Fa to arrive along with fans that filled the airport. It was touching to see the amount of fans that showed up for P'Fa. She needed this affirmation, she needed to see with her own eyes how many people love her and support her regardless of the drama that happened.

Finally, our nation's treasure has arrived. Seeing P'Fa, the thought of her leaving was still unreal. All these months of preparation was finally going to be showcased to the world. I worry for P'Fa being all alone in a unfamiliar place surrounded by people of all cultures conversing in English a language she is not comfortable with. I wish to just go with her as her translator.

After close to an hour of saying goodbye,it was her final moment of going in the gate. I put down the phone I was recording her with and quietly sit down in front of the crowd and wave. I wanted to give her the biggest hug and the biggest encouragement, but the timing didn't seem right with how hectic things were. And there she goes, over a month away from home, to fight for the crown representing Thailand. I've never been prouder.
