Kam POV

Of course I run into one of the most famous people in New York right now. I was trying to stop a bank robbery in the middle of New York City when Spiderman swung in. He began helping me, but I couldn't let him figure out who I was. As soon as we finished, I followed him into the alleyway. I tried to punch him, but he spun around and caught my fist in his hand. We fought, and I was able to hold my own. He seemed surprised that even with his super strength and spider powers, he couldn't hit me once.

"Karen? Who is this?" he asked.

"Dude. The name's not Karen. But you're not far off." I got a few punches in.

"No, no, no. Don't send this footage to Mr. Stark! I don't need help," he said, hitting me square in the face. I spit blood onto the ground and grit my teeth. "No! Mr. Stark, you don't need to come here." I threw him onto the ground in his distraction. "Yeah, I'm fine. I can handle this."

I needed to end this fast if he was calling for backup. I punched him in the jaw when I heard thrusters. He fell to the ground. An iron clad suit of armor descended from the sky.

"Get away from Spiderman," he demanded. Spiderman backed up towards Iron Man. I put my hands up in surrender. "I'm gonna need you to come with us."

"Sorry, that's not going to happen," I said. However, I was trapped against the wall with nowhere to run. The man's face plate disappeared to reveal the sarcastic face of Tony Stark.

"Spidey, get out of here. Go home," he says, before turning to me. "Look, kid. Both of our suits have scanned your face. We'll be able to figure out your name and track you easily. Let's just make it easy for all of us. Come back to the facility and we'll have a little chat. Then, maybe we can let you go back to your family." I flinched at the word facility. But, I had to laugh at the end.

"Family? Jokes on you. I have no family. And I don't want to go back to your facility and become a lab rat," I say, snarkily. Tony rolls his eyes.

"Friday, I've had enough. Scan her," he says to his suit.

"Scanning," a robotic female voice replies. Tony frowns as he reads the report.

"Kamryn Kacey. Parents are Miranda and John Kacey."

"Shut up," I growl.

"Parents died at age 7. Car accident. Tragic."

"I said, shut up!"

"Miss Kacey was proclaimed dead a few months later by an unknown cause." He looked up at me. "And yet here you are."

"Leave me alone," I said, trying to keep my voice from cracking while wrapping my arms around myself protectively. I didn't want to relive my entire past. Tony's face softened.

"C'mon kid. Just come back. I promise, I just need some answers. You're either enhanced in some way or a secret spy. Then, we'll go from there. It's our job to monitor the activity of potential superheroes or super-enemies. Just tell me what happened during those years when you were dead. Were you some super-spy, or something?" he joked, but it brought me back to the past and the years I spent alone. "...kid....kid...kid!" He had a hand on my shoulder and let out a breath when I looked back up at him. I tried to forget about the flashbacks. I brushed his hand off and jumped back. He looked at me with concern and it made me uncomfortable. I stumbled back as everything began to spin. Dizziness washed over me and I reached out, trying to grab the wall or something else, just to keep myself upright. "Kid?" a voice dimly asked. I fell backwards as my eyes flickered open and closed. I could barely see Tony kneeling beside me. He swore under his breath. "Hey, stay awake. Keep your eyes open," he said. I could feel a hand on my back and I knew I was being picked up. But, I never was a good listener.
