*Lucy's POV*
I got ready to go explore with Kipps and after a lot of nervous pacing, the clock finally hit seven. I opened my door just about to walk out when I see him. And the others, but mostly him. I quickly shut the door and lock it, wondering just how in the world they found me. I hear their footsteps go to the elevator at the end of the hallway, I assume it's clear and head over to Kipps apartment. I knock on his door, and he opens it after a second.
"Oh, wow Luce you look wonderful, I don't know what to say-" he says with a bewildered look on his face.
"How 'bout you say, 'C'mon let's go get some dinner, Luce!' " He laughs, and apprehensively takes my hand and we start walking to our destination.
*Kipps's POV*
When Lockwood knocked at my door, I thought it was an omen that tonight was going to be horrid, but I was wrong. I already had kind of a thing for Lucy ever since I saw her at the archives for the first time, but that was mostly to see how pissed off I could get Lockwood. Now, it feels like more than that. But I feel almost a little guilty, knowing that most of this 'thing' Lucy and I have now is still a competition with Lockwood. A few months ago, Lockwood and Karim were surrounded by ghosts and me and my team had to step in to save them, after we sealed the sources and started packing up, I started making loud comments about Lucy, like how much more talented she was and how pretty she looks. I admit now that some of those comments were horrid and a few of them vulgar, but Lockwood just kept getting redder and redder so I couldn't stop. I know how he feels about Lucy, and I know he likes her more than I do. Don't get me wrong she's stunning and has a good sense of humor, but our personalities don't really match, and she has a lot of baggage.
Snapping me out of my thoughts, I hear her say "Is everything alright, Kipps?'
"Yeah, sorry I just kind of zoned out for a minute." I laughed "Actually, I was wondering if you wanted to go to the store with me, Luce? I need to pick up some supplies for a case and I don't want to leave so soon."
"Yeah, sure that sounds good with me."
*Time skip provided by my loathe for the Accuplacer test*
I knew that on Fridays that's when Lockwood or his team would come and get the supplies they needed, so that's why I chose to come here so randomly. I needed to send the message that Luce is fine, and they need to stop bollocking me to try and find her. I grab what I actually did need, and we sat outside of the store on the bench talking. That's when I see Lockwood, Karim, and Munroe all walking out of a cab towards the store.
*Lockwood's POV*
After that disastrous meeting with Kipps, we head to the store to get more salt bombs, because we just ran out. That's when I saw her, sitting on the bench in a beautiful outfit laughing. She's telling the story about how we had to go to a client's house to get rid of a 'ghost cat'. This normally wouldn't have bugged me because as much as I hate what happened and that she's not here with me, it makes me happy that she's laughing after what we found today. But then I see Quill Kipps head turn to look at us, and the smug pos puts his arm around her waist. I go into the store and quickly pay for the salt bombs. When I walk out Lucy is alone, and Kipps is at the pay phone a little walk away probably calling a cab.
"Luce" I nervously say. She turns around towards me and replies,
"Lockwood?" I feel my eyes stinging because I finally heard her voice, the one I so dearly miss.
We both look at each other, the same expression mirrored in both of our eyes. Before I can say anything George, who still had not noticed her pulled me in the cab. I've never been good at expressing or understanding emotions, but I really understand what I'm feeling now.
It's a chilly Friday, and I'm in love.
