*Lucy's POV*

I was running, running from my past, present, and future, from my whole world, when I crashed into Quill Kipps. I thought that he'd be the last person I'd ever want to see at a time like this, but it turns out, he was the very person I needed. He took me to get a coffee, listened to my pain, and gave me a wonderful suggestion.

While I was thinking of all this, I didn't notice Lockwood in the doorway watching me as I thoughtfully put away the dishes back in the cupboard. Once I finished, he cleared his throat, but before he could say anything, I left back up into my room, making sure to lock it this time.

Earlier, Kipps had made the suggestion that I don't put up with Lockwood's crap anymore and just quit.

I've had a lot of firsts since I came to London, but I can't say this is my first time running from a place I call home. After packing everything that matters, I gather my bags and tape goodbye notes for George and Holly on the biscuit container, a place where they are bound to find it soon.

I pause before walking out of the door, taking in once last breath of this wonderful, chaotic, place I used to call home. Some may think I'm overreacting, but I know this is best for them and me because I don't want to risk getting them hurt or killed. I love them all so dearly I would never be able to live with the guilt of killing or injuring more of my family.

As I get in the cab, I hear the all too familiar voice of the Skull saying. "Bet you thought you forgot me, ey Lucy?"
