And we storm out the door.

The moment we step outside the Institute, I can see Simon and Steph standing at a distance, probably wondering why me and Clary are in an abandoned cathedral.

"So, why they can't see you?" Clary asks Jace, while we're walking down the stairs. "This is a glamour, a rune that makes me invisible to mundanes" Jace explains at the same time he lifts up the hem of his black shirt, pointing to a rune that is drawn in his abs. Alec already told me about glamours, but i didn't knew how the rune looked like, so i glance curiously at Jace's abs, but quickly diverts my gaze. "It's a shame, cause... well, denying them all this" he finished, gesturing to himself, smugly. I scoff at him. When we are getting closer to our friends, i can finally confirm their bewildered expressions.

"What do you have on, Clary?" Simon asks apprehensively, about her tight black leather dress, while taking off his jacket to put around her shoulders. Both of our friends glance at us worried. "How do you leave the club without letting me know, As?" Steph lectures me, bemused, with brows knitted in a frown. "I know... It's... really complicated. My phone broke at the club though, and a lot happened since then." I explain, apologetically, with soft gaze. "Let me take you guys home." Simon pleads at us.

"I don't think a have one, anymore." Clary states with moisten eyes and low voice. Right, Izzy explained to me when i was getting dressed that when Jace's got to Clary's apartment, it had just been broken into and burned down, but he managed to save Clary in time from a demon that was attacking her. And aparrently, her mother went missing. I'm interrupted from my thoughts when I start to feel chills running down my spine. I lift my brows, attentive, looking at our surroundings.

"Why? What do you mean?" Simon questions her, muddled.

Clary sighs, "Well-" she starts to explains, but gets interrupted when a rough masculine voice snarled behind us, "Clary Fairchild!" he shouted, making we jerk our heads in the direction of the sound, and our gaze falls over a tall bulky man, wearing a suit and placing a seraph blade in front of his body. Standing with his chest out and focused gaze on Clary.

But suddenly, Jace grabs him from behind, in a neck-choking armlock. "What are you looking at?" Simon asks us, starting to get desperate. Steph rests a hand on my shoulder, gazing at me with a distraught look. Me and Clary gasps, while Simon and Steph starts to ask what's going on, simultaneously and repetitively.

"If you give us the girl, i'll let you live." The man states to Jace, struggling because of Jace's strong hold on him. "You're in no position to be making rules." Jace roars at him, but grunts when the man punches him in his stomach, making him stumble losing his hold on the man's neck.

Me and Clary yelp with wide eyes, starting to breath hard. Our friends starts to panic at our reaction, probably because we are looking like crazy to them, staring desperately to nothing.

The man charges to Jace, and they start to fight, but Jace is faster, and is able to dodge and disarm the man, locking him in a strong grip.

"We'll never stop hunting her" The man states, strained. "This is for my father" Jace announces, and stick the blade through the man's chest. He gasps but go limp, collapsing onto the ground.

"Jace!" Clary shouts, and we both trots towards him, "Excuse me?" Simon says offended, thinking Clary misspoken his name, but even so, he and Steph chase after us. We stand besides the sprawled body on the floor. He looks dead to me.

"Is he dead?" Clary asks distressed, pointing at the body, as if she heard my thoughts.

"Is who dead?" Steph asks, confused. They're totally thinking we are high.
