"Then you must be something else."

After Hodge said that, I was bewildered, first everything I thought I knew was wrong, and all the legends are true, then they tell me i'm probably a Shadowhunter and thence Hodge says I'm something else. My mind is honestly going to explode any time soon. So, I stood there freeze in spot, staring at Hodge with bug eyes, while Alec kept staring at me with knitted eyebrows. Alec opened his mouth to say something, but I swirled in my heels and dash out of there, so I could think better by myself.

But when I got to the corridor, Alec caught up with me. "Aster, wait" He says, grabbing my arm, making me stop in place.

"What do you want, Alec? If you here to ask if I know what 'else' am I. Well, news flash, I don't." I snap at him, feeling frustrated. But he don't seem to mind.

"No, I can tell by your face that you don't" He states with sincerity, letting go of my arm and crossing his arms over his chest. I sigh and start to pace back and forth.

"That's just great. First i'm haunted with these nightmares... I don't even remember the last time i get to fully sleep for an entire night..." I tell him. "Oh wait, I do, when i passed out yesterday" I say sarcastically, and continue "And now, i don't even know who I truly am, and-" I get cut mid sentence when I feel an excruciating headache due a strident rough voice I hear. I place my hands over my ears, and shut my eyes tightly.

"The prophecy is beginning." It states.

When the voice fades, I feel instant relief, and when I open my eyes I see Alec's ocean ones worriedly staring at me. He's standing closer to me.

"Aster, what's wrong?" He ask touching with his hand one of mine, who were against my ear, and taking it on his.

"I- I... I heard this voice." I murmur, frowning.

"What voice?" He queries, bemused. His brows knitting in a frown.

"A strident rough voice" but he keeps staring confusedly at me. "You didn't listened to it?" I ask him, now questioning my sanity. And he shakes his head. Great, i'm going crazy, but Alec doesn't seen to think like that.

"What did you hear?" He questions softly, curiosity evident on his tone.

"I heard a rough voice, like a man's one. It said... 'the prophecy is beginning'..." I explain to him. Alec stares at me, but I can see he's deep in thought. "Am I going crazy Alec?" I ask him, urgent.

"In the Shadow World everything has a meaning." He reply to my question, confidently. "I promise you, i'll find out what you are and what's going on". He state to me, looking deeply into my eyes, and gives my hand one squeeze, before letting go.

"How? We don't even have a clue where to start." I softly ask him, discouraged.

"We now have his prophecy thing, it must mean something, and is something for us to look for." He tells me, again with confidence on his eyes.

"and maybe Clary's mother knows something." I add. "Could she have the Cup, though?" He queries me. "I don't know, like I told to you, i just met Clary" I explain. "If Clary's memories were wiped like Hodge claimed-" Alec starts but I cut him.

"How could this happen though?" I ask him. "A warlock, they can erase memories." He elucidates me. "Maybe then, if we find a warlock, we can recover her memories." I ponder.

"And maybe the warlock can know something about the prophecy. But first i have to speak to the Clave about Valentine." He starts to walk again "Come, let's find Jace" and I start to follow him. I have this feeling that i can trust Alec.
