The Internet Graveyard.
A vast and scary realm, where Memes go to live out their final days and obsolete trends experience their last glimpse of glory before disappearing forever.
SMG3 knew this place well by now – he was its ruler after all. But a part of knowing the Internet graveyard is also recognizing, that you DON'T know the Internet graveyard. Each and every day, so many new Memes, trends and small internet celebrities join the mix that it would be impossible for a single being to keep up with every new addition.
And you don't just have to deal with new Memes; SMG3 has also noticed the landscape and vibe of the graveyard change, depending on who or what is down here. The music you hear on the Graveyard-Radio keeps updating with new Meme-Songs and the Starbucks in the middle of the graveyard keeps updating i's menu with weird new combination (Who goes to Starbucks for a Whopper??)
Although the Internet Graveyard is primarily covered with tall, dark pine trees, some of the more powerful dead-trends have managed to change certain areas of the internet graveyard to fit their individual needs; Just last month, SMG3 discovered a modern-looking house full of people dancing. Upon further inspection it turned out, that this was a place where the former content-creator houses lived. But the Content House or the Starbucks wasn't what concerned SMG3 today.
You see, when a regular Meme like "Doge" or "Trollface" join the Internet Graveyard, SMG3 doesn't really need to worry; They are just one single entity, they can't do much harm. And as long as they survive the Ugandan Knuckles, they'll be fine!
But when a bigger trend joins the graveyard, then SMG3 has to react. When the "Devious Lick" Trend first appeared in the Graveyard, many of the Dead Memes came to SMG3 to complain about their things going missing. SMG3 had to train a Task-Force of Ugandan Knuckles that would find all the missing objects and bring them back to where they belong. SMG3 wished he could have just beaten up the trend or locked it away in a cage somewhere; But it wasn't that simple, because it wasn't an entity. The "devious lick" trend wasn't like any Doge or Knuckles Meme; It was a concept, an idea, a thing that just happens on the internet that you have to deal with.
And it seems the trend that SMG3 has to deal with today is quite similar.
SMG3 first noticed that something was going on when he saw Big Chungus go into the forest and come out as a pirate version of himself. But when more and more Memes came up to him complaining about turning into different versions of themselves, he knew he had to investigate.
So this is where he is now. Standing outside the graveyard forest with a backpack full of equipment, he turned around to his son, Eggdog, who was wildly barking at him in concern.
"Don't worry, buddy!" SMG3 tried to reassure the little meme dog."I will be back before you even know I'm gone. I just have to find and seal up this new area that has been messing with the Dead memes to prevent others from going near it."
Eggdog still barked at SMG3, seemingly scared for his dads safety.
"Hey, I'm the ruler of the Internet Graveyard, if anyone can deal with this it's going to be me. " SMG3 struck a pose, trying to show Eggdog how confident he was. "And besides, I informed that dork SMG4 about what I was doing, so if I'm not back by tomorrow, he'll come feed you and get me out with his own Meme Energy".
After the promise of food and safety for his dad, Eggdog seemed to calm down. SMG3 gave him one last hug before turning around and walking into the forest
Although SMG3 pretended to be confident and cool in front of Eggdog, he was actually very uncertain about this whole thing. Dead Trends were always difficult to deal with, especially ones that seem as powerful as this new thing they were experiencing at the moment. But SMG3 had a job to do, he knew that better than anyone. So despite his worries, he made his way through the forest, looking for the place the Memes had described.
After a while of just walking around and singing Meme-Songs to himself, SMG3 finally saw them; The pink cherry blossom trees. The Memes that had been influenced by this new trend described noticing a circle of pink trees and walking into the area to investigate, just as SMG3 was doing now. Inside of the circle of trees was a big area, filled with random houses and a small lake in the middle; Exactly as the Memes had described. SMG3 took a breath. "Alright then, let's check this out."
