"Finally! We're done!" SMG4 sat down on the floor, exhausted. "That took all DAY"
"But that was so much fun, right guys?" Boopkins didn't seem tired at all which made sense; As an enjoyer of fanfiction this whole adventure was more like a dream come true than a task for Boopkins.
"Not quite!" Meggy was sitting on the floor, staring into Boopkins laptop. "We still have one more trope to deal with."
"What do you mean?" SMG3 looked at her in confusion. "I don't know if you're blind or anything but there are no more Memes here."
Meggy turned towards SMG3, turning around the laptop. "But then why did you click on this page, Three?"
SMG3 didn't even need to look at the screen to know what page Meggy had pulled up. It was the same exact page that made Three close the laptop in the first place.
"Red string of fate? Whats that?" SMG4 had gotten up and looked at the page in confusion.
"OOH that's one of my favourites!!" Boopkins jumped up from excitement "Someone gets tied to their soulmate through a red string that's tied to their left pinkie, it's so romantic!!"
Soulmate.
Not that damned word again.
SMG3 didn't want to be anyone's soulmate.
"I- I don't know what you're talking about." SMG3's heart was racing. He needed them to stop talking.
"You sure, man? It was the only link that was clicked on. You must have had a reason to click that specific one." Damn Meggy, why was she so smart.
SMG3 stood up and walked towards Meggy. "That was an accident. I just clicked a random link." He pushed SMG4 to the side and tried to grab the Laptop, but Meggy was faster, and pulled it away just in time.
"Three, you've been acting off all day. What's going on?"
SMG3 didn't answer, instead stepping closer and attempting to grab the laptop again, when his hand suddenly got pulled back by a familiar force.
No.
Not now.
"If there's someone still affected by this fanfiction stuff you gotta tell us, Three. We can help" SMG3 paused. She said "someone" but by the way that she looked at SMG3 he could tell:
She knows.
"There's nothing going on. Drop it."
SMG3 tried to fight against the pull of the red string as inconspicuously as he could, but he couldn't get his left hand to move and further towards Meggy.
"A red string on their left pinkie?" Meggy and Three turned their heads towards SMG4 who was standing behind SMG3, watching them carefully.
He had managed to read a bit of what was on the website before Meggy pulled the laptop away.No no no. He can't find out.
"Yes, but its usually invisible" Boopkins elaborated. "Sometimes only the people tied to the string can see it, sometimes everyone can see it.. it really depends on the writer" He was cowering behind Meggy, scared at SMG3's sudden aggression.
"Guys just st-" SMG3 wanted to end the conversation again but he got interrupted by SMG4.
"And can you pull on the string?" SMG4 looked to be deep in thought.
Shit shit shit. Was he putting the pieces together?
"T-that also depends som-"
"BOOPKINS I SAID DROP. IT." SMG3 yelled at the little fish guy, and tried to reach for him with the hand that was not currently held back by a string. But before Three could grab him, SMG4 pulled back his own arm with such a force that Three fell backwards, landing on his back and staring up at the sky.
He heard Boopkins cry out in shock and Meggy yelling his name. But all he could really focus on was the face that slowly appeared above him.
SMG3 looked at SMG4's face, trying to see if SMG4 had already figured it out.
And from the look on SMG4's face it was clear:
He knew.
