Cinderace looked to her right as the sun set below a mound of rocks and dirt. They must've been a mile or so away from the Fire Kingdom palace, which meant they were growing closer to where the Dark Kingdom and Fire Kingdom met. But that also meant they could be close to the Ice Kingdom border, which could cause them to get caught up in a Fire Kingdom and Ice Kingdom battle.

"You two can go to sleep if you need to, I got a pretty good rest while y'all were in the den," Comet said as she continued to walk forward, her ears perked towards any sound that could be a possible threat.

"Thanks, Comet, but I'm fine," Cinderace said, but she soon dozed off and wrapped her arms around Comet's neck, nuzzling right below the horse's calm mane of fire.

"I slept last night. I'm not tired," Xeno spoke.

"So you're one of those, 'sleep is for the weak' Pokemon, eh?" Comet teased.

Xeno didn't reply. He just gazed at the sleeping Pokemon, then looked down at his lap, zoning out.

It was silent for quite some time as the bright, orange Sun gradually climbed below the earth and the sky with shades of pink, purple, and red faded into a dark, violet and blue sky with a few white dots scattered across it.

Comet's white fur seemed to have a purple tint as the night colors reflected off of it. The rising moon, located east, made her dark purple eyes shine and glisten. Her fire was small as the heat of the Sun had been replaced by the cold moon. It almost seemed to blow out every time a gust of wind blew by.

Xeno's tired eyes drooped and he drifted into a light sleep, letting himself fall onto Cinderace. But not too soon after, they both fell off of Comet as she reared up, kicking her front legs with fear.

"Agh! Comet, what's wrong?" Cinderace shouted, fully awake from shock. As Comet fell back down onto all four legs, she shook her head and took a step back.

"We're being attacked," Xeno said, his ears perked to the right. "Actually, more like someone else is being attacked, and we got caught up in it. Cinder! Watch out-!"

Suddenly, a shard of ice hit Cinderace's right arm, spreading across her forearm and freezing it. She cried out in agony, but shook the pain off and hopped up to calm Comet down, holding her frozen arm. "Sh, Comet, it's okay. No need to panic." She stroked the horse's neck in comfort with her unfrozen arm.

Xeno stood up and looked towards where the attack came from, finding a battle between three Ice Kingdom guards and two Fire Kingdom guards. One of the guards, a Glaceon, charged towards them. "Crap! Cinder, we have to go! Right now!" He said.

"There's no way Comet's going to let us get on her back when she's in a panic! What do we do?" Cinderace replied with a slight hiss in her voice.

Then, they heard a voice coming from a small, 3 feet deep stream a few yards away, bordering the Ice Kingdom. "Over here!" The voice called.

Hesitantly, Xeno moved forward, followed by Cinderace who led Comet towards the voice. They quickly ran to the stream and, now that they were closer, they could see a vaporeon sticking its head out of the water.

"Queen Ninetales ordered her guards to attack any fire or electric type they saw. They won't stop until you're out of sight or they're dead. Follow me," the water-type eeveelution explained.

"Why should I trust-" Xeno started, but was interrupted by Cinderace.

"You're more likely to die in a battle between the Fire and Ice Kingdom than if you were to go with the vaporeon. Quit being so closed-minded and come on," she said.
