Synopsis

The protagonist was born into a poor and traditional family of Chinese medicine. In order to revive the family business, he was forced to break up with his childhood sweetheart and was sent to marry into the Ji family. Then, the book goes into the ups and downs of their relationship, with tropey misunderstandings and jealousy.

The head of the Ji family, Ji Jingyan, was a wealthy and handsome man with high social status and influence, but unfortunately, he had a physical disability in both legs. Funnily enough, this was Jinghuai's favorite aspect of the character.

However, the author had written Ji Jingyan as a straight man who had no romantic interest towards the protagonist.

Ji Jingyan's existence was solely for the purpose of creating misunderstandings and jealousy between the main characters and to serve the trope of being the obstacle in their relationship. In the end, Ji Jingyan was killed off in a tragic and meaningless way, leaving the readers feeling sorry for him.
