Sadie didn't know what to say. She had never considered the possibility of being in a romantic relationship with Millie before. But as she looked into Millie's eyes, she saw a depth of emotion and vulnerability that she couldn't ignore.
"I don't know what to say," Sadie said finally. "I didn't realize you felt that way about me."
Millie looked down at her hands, feeling embarrassed. "I'm sorry," she said. "I didn't mean to make things awkward."
Sadie reached out and gently lifted Millie's chin so that their eyes met. "You don't have to apologize," she said. "I'm just...surprised. But maybe we can talk about it more?"
Millie's face brightened. "Really?" she said.
Sadie smiled. "Yeah, let's talk about it. Maybe we can figure out what this means."
