Luna means "moon" in spanish, and well, here we are, with a small story at nightime. Enjoy it!
"Remember honey, life is a series of surprises."
It wasn't her birthday yet, but her father's phrase echoed in her head again. Even in those moments where sleep consumed her, his cheerful voice couldn't leave her mind. It didn't bother her, she just found it curious that even at her age, he was still someone excited to celebrate his daughter's birthday.
Twenty years old, but fifteen minutes for her twenty-first birthday. The moon was at the top of the sky, accompanied by the stars that looked like little pearls beside it. Most of the building already had its lights off, while the outside had only a few cars on the road. It was a calm night, just another night where Uraraka could take a good rest after a good job at the agency.
She was brushing her teeth as she looked around her apartment. It looked simple and comfortable, a place without many things to highlight, but it was the place that made Uraraka happy. She took her towel to dry her face, while stretching her body to try to sleep comfortably. Once she was ready, she started to head to her room. She opened the door and began to arrange the last things before going to bed. She charged her phone, knowing that she wouldn't be able to get messages from her friends and family until tomorrow; and began to arrange her hero costume to avoid damaging it with dust.
While she was doing that, she was already thinking about everything that was going to happen the next day. Mina was probably going to take her to a restaurant to celebrate with a lunch with everyone, Iida was going to give her a book or a perfume, her parents were going to come to her apartment and shower her with hugs and kisses, and she was going to receive greetings from all her class. It was going to be a nice day for her, and she didn't expect any tragedy or drudgery for her birthday, knowing that it was going to fall on a day off. She didn't have anything planned other than talking to her family, so she was going to let the day flow and let the surprises come to her as her father always said. At the end of the day, being with her family and friends was the best gift she could have. They could give her anything, a gold bar and even a small keychain, but she was going to appreciate more the affection of being celebrating with someone by her side. Although, a little bit of money wasn't going to turn out bad for her at all, knowing the inflation in the country.
However, deep inside the girl, she did want something special for her day, even if she denied it. Deku's appearance in person for her birthday.
Two years. She knew that after graduation she was going to have a hard time seeing many people, and among all her friends in her graduating class, she was a little upset that Deku had traveled to another region of Japan. He had had a better job opportunity at an agency in the capital, and knowing that a hero's job was important, he took it without hesitation. Of course, that didn't mean the two didn't still communicate. They talked most days on the phone, even making video calls to each other to feel that they were close. Their affection for each other was mutual, but it wasn't the same as being in touch with someone in person.
There were many things she wanted to do with Deku, especially knowing that her love for him wasn't gone. Sometimes she wanted to tell him that she loved him over the phone, she even wanted to tell him that she was going to pursue an opportunity to work with him at his side. But her hopes were lowered when she saw how famous he was on television. She was even afraid that at some point he would fall in love with someone else.
Although Deku would send him small gifts from time to time, she didn't like the idea that their relationship couldn't go beyond a simple friendship. It was difficult knowing the distance that separated them, but Uraraka was always hopeful that at some point she would meet him again and they could live together. Even her father told her that, if their love was true, fate was going to do its best for them to end up as a couple. She had a big surprise when she told her father how cute he was and accepted him as a suitable person for her.
