Chapter 5

Deku comes back up, holding a small box. "Is this all of it?" he says, and Shrek nods his head.

Shrek looks at Deku and says, "You've gotten what you wanted; now leave." Shrek points to the front door and says, "And use the door this time. Now I have to find someone to fix my window."

Deku walks to the door, looking back at Shrek one last time before opening the door and saying "good bye." He walks out, closing the door behind him.

Shrek walks into the living room, sits down on the couch, and looks at God.

"Who the fuck was that?" God says it rather angrily. Shrek opens his mouth to speak but then stops. He grabs God's hand, holding it in his. Tears started to fall from his eyes. "It's hard to explain. Can we just ignore what happened for now? I promise to tell you later." God looks at Shrek, and they pull him closer. God hugs Shrek tightly.

"Ok, promise you'll tell me? God asks softly.

"Yes," Shrek says through tears. "Can we do something else? I'm sure there's a game we could play." Shrek starts to get up, obviously wanting to change the subject. He grabs God's hand and walks them to the kitchen.

"We never did eat Shrek," God says when they enter the kitchen. "And honestly, I am kind of hungry; what about you?"

"Yes," Shrek says through tears. "Can we do something else? I'm sure there's a game we could play." Shrek starts to get up, obviously wanting to change the subject. He grabs God's hand and walks them to the kitchen.

"We never did eat Shrek," God says when they enter the kitchen. "And honestly, I am kind of hungry; what about you?"

"I suppose I'm hungry too; maybe we can eat first." Shrek says, remembering the amazing breakfast God was cooking for them. God and Shrek sit down at the table; the food is still warm. God starts eating first; they did a good job with the pancakes. On God's pancakes, there are strawberries and syrup; on Shrek's, there are blueberries and peanut butter, their favorites.

After seeing God eat their pancakes, he starts to dig into his. They are so delicious; he never knew God could cook this well. Shrek devours his pancakes, not being able to get enough of them. He finishes before God, watching them eat their pancakes. "God, these were the best pancakes I've ever had."

God smiles with a mouth full of pancakes. After swallowing the food in his mouth, he had a good response. "Thank you, Shrek; it's an old family recipe. They were my favorite as a kid." God starts to think about when they were younger, sitting at the table eating these pancakes with their siblings on weekends.

God finishes their food, getting up and grabbing both plates. They rinse the plates off before sticking them in the dishwasher. "You said you wanted to play a game, right?" God says this, looking at Shrek, who is still sitting at the table.

"Mhm, do you have one in mind?" Shrek asks, getting up from the table and walking to God.

"No, not really. I was hoping you did," God admits, "maybe we could watch a movie."

"That does sound more fun," Shrek says, already pulling God into the living room with him. Push God down onto the couch, and Shrek turns on the TV before sitting next to them. He scrolls through movies on Netflix before settling for one called Bubble. They cuddle closely as the movie plays, getting invested in the story. Near the end of the movie, God realizes Shrek fell asleep. They pause the movie and turn the TV off before falling asleep too.
