Chapter 6

The following morning was a complete disaster. Local news were all over the incident, though the story about an unidentified creature that broke free from MONARCH containment unit facility was being covered up. Reports were a 6.3 earthquake in Japan and radiation leakage with fire spreading throughout the deserted suburbs of Janjira, Japan.

Things could have not gone better.

And now the Naval military are involved. "This area is now under the Naval military jurisdiction. All personnel must report to the duty officer for debriefing." An announcer spoke over the speakers.

Dr. Serizawa stood among the wreckage with a grim face. All what once a facility is now damaged with bodies of colleagues he was acquainted with our workers who were making a living in life to dedicate themselves on studying awestruck, powerful, and dangerous entities.

This is a burden he and MONARCH have to carry.

He continued observing bodies of workers carried in bodybags to ambulances, some were missing or trapped under his wreckage, but the worst was unable to unidentify individual reduce to blood smears as they had been either crushed by the MUTO or debris beyond recognition.

Serizawa knew that MONARCH can no longer remain an enigma anymore as the whole world will now know that monsters exist, but he can hardly care if the secret is out as none of that mattered. Right now human life is at stake.

"Dr. Serizawa." Vivienne called, jogging in his direction, passing through the men carrying the body bags while tagging her from behind were military personnel. "Dr. Serizawa." She calls again, placing her hand on her mentor's arm, though he did not respond to her first two calls.

"Dr. Serizawa." She said quietly.

Serizawa turns at last to see an African American military man. "Captain Russell Hampton. Glad to find you sir," He greeted the researcher. "I've been briefed on your work with Operation: MONARCH. Now, I'm told your organization has situational awareness of our unidentified creature."

Serizawa turns to him in silence.

"Is that right?" The captain asked again.

Serizawa responded with a simple nod.

"I'm here to inform you that we are now taking over operational authority from MONARCH. So I'm gonna need you to come with me. Is there any personnel you need?" The captain inquires.

Serizawa looks around. Last night Gina vanished. He manage to catch her leaping away from the destroyed facility. He can bet that Gina is now on the hunt for her natural predator and it is personal given what he revealed about Dagon. Still, perhaps it was best if she is not revealed just yet given how tense the situation is and the first instincts of humans when they fear something they don't understand is attack and kill, and that would lead to Gina killing as though she has bonded with MONARCH workers back at Outpost 54, Gina is unlikely to care about anyone else so long as they don't get in her way.

She is after all a being that puts the planet before humanity.

His eyes wander across the dead bodies. Any colleague is dead so other than Vivienne, there is no one else he requires, that was when he spotted Joe and Ford Brody preparing to board on an ambulance. Neither were badly injured, and Joe was gonna make it given Gina saved his life from being harmed by the collapse of the catwalk structure.

He did not wish to involve civilians who merely came to learn about the truth behind the tragedy of a loved one from the Janjira incident, but it is common knowledge that many MONARCH personnel become apart of the organization because of their run-in with the Titans. Once you go in, there is no going back out. Not to mention that Joe figured out about the readings on the EMP pulses emitted by the MUTO. And his son Ford is a U.S. Navy lieutenant and explosive ordnance disposal technician, which makes him an excellent candidate if he joined G-Team and agent of MONARCH.
