"Welcome back, Hogwarts very first eighth years." The old lady smiled brightly. "If you all would please follow me to the great hall, where I shall explain some new rules and expectations we have put in place."

The young adults followed the headmistress, but something was missing more like someone.

"Hurry up I'm not being fucking late because of you prats!" Draco huffed striving to get his taxing friends to get a move on.

"Calm down Dray I'm sure we're early if anything." The surprisingly calm girl assured, reapplying her expensive rouge lipstick.

Draco began flapping his limp hand abruptly, showing his impatience. "Pansy!" He prolonged each letter in her name whining.

"Come on Pans let's get going before his hands drop off." The other boy said pulling her to stand.

Draco and his friends strutted into the great hall to find everyone huddled at the side, attention now drawn to the Slytherins, shaking their heads.

"I told you we where fucking late. Ugh why are they staring." The blond snaked his head into his shoulders. Pansy reached forward and grabbed his hand intertwining her delicate fingers with his sweaty ones easing his flying nerves.

Composing himself, his confidence shone through once again as he stood up straight gliding across the shiny floor, his signature smirk painted over his face like a mask.

"How classy Malfoy, late on the first day." Ron guffawed under his breath in a mocking attempt, making his friends giggle.

"Awe Parkinson, Zabini, Malfoy I was wondering when you would make your appearance." The teacher squinted at the trio. "As I was saying you will all share a common room, dorms and table. Uh special treatment for our eighth years."

"More like you just want to keep us away from the innocent little ones." Loyd grunted annoyed.

Poor Mcgonagall rubbed her wrinkled face, she was clearly exhausted. "You must see I can't change what's already been done, but I can give you privacy to work through all that has happened. You may come to me if you wish to talk about anything and there will be calming draughts available in the infirmary, I am truly sorry if it was up to me you would have many more resources to help cope but the ministry's word is final." Her once grinning face now dead cold as sorrow overtook her words.

Everyone awkwardly shuffled on the spot, confused at what to do.

Eventually the headmistress took them up to the third floor to a hidden away room none had seen before. Slowly she opened the door grating it across the floor as it let out a maddening screech.

"Each of your rooms will have your trunk inside and names on the door, I tried to put you with your friends for comfort. I'll leave you to get unpacked." With a strained smile she was off -leaving the students unsupervised- to go greet the first years.

The elegant common room was filled with mixtures of blue, yellow, green, red and grey, the Hogwarts crest hung above the entrance door. Three sofa's scattered with pillows lay in front of a burning fireplace, on the other side of the room was a love seat and two armchairs facing each other with a chess table in-between.

Draco looked up to find Blaise pointing at each student mouthing something. "What on Merlin's green Earth are you doing?"

"Haha there are exactly eighteen students and sin as my guess was closest I win! Cough up!" The boy cheered laughing weakly.

"No no no. You said twenty that's not exactly eighteen!" Draco scowled more annoyed at loosing the game rather than the fifty galleons he had to hand over. His pride grew sore.
