Elizabeth woke up the next morning just as the sun started to rise, anxiety and excitement buzzing through her. She struggled to sleep the night before, dreams of what she may learn filled her dreams and kept her from resting peacefully.
She slowly got out of bed, her bare feet hitting the cold wood of the floor. She fought back a shiver, wrapping a robe around herself as she made her way out into the hallway. The Nexus was quiet, torchlight illuminating the hallway. She slowly made her way down the stairs to the second floor and into her personal training room. The room was completely bare, the walls darkened from the fire that she was learning to control.
She slowly dropped the robe and stepped into the middle of the room, closing her eyes. She held out her hand palm up, envisioning the fire shooting out of her hand. When she opened her eyes, she saw the fire that shot out of her hand so high that it almost hit the ceiling. She slowly moved her hand from side to side, watching as the fire moved with her movements.
Now she held her hand out away from her, willing even more fire. It erupted from her hand, lining up like a wall in front of her. It was like the fire was protecting her, a wall of fire to keep her safe. That made her smile, watching as the fire swirled in front of her, deadly and powerful.
She started moving her hands now, watching as the fire swirled and danced through the air. It swirled around her, she could feel the heat but it didn't burn her. She threw her hand to the left and the fire leapt from her palms, striking the wall with deadly force. She smiled more and threw her other hand to the right, watching as it struck the other wall, scorching it. It was as if electricity was coursing through her veins, she felt as if she was glowing.
It only felt like minutes that she was in there, she didn't feel as the minutes melted away into hours that she spent in that room. A knock on the door lifted her out of her trance, making her turn her head back towards it as it creaked open.
Theo's brown eyes met her green ones, a warm smile on his face, "Are you ready to go?" His cheeks reddened when he saw that she was just in her pajamas. He quickly adverted his gaze, looking up at the ceiling, "Me and Warren will meet you downstairs in the living room, we are leaving in about an hour." He left before she could even get a word out.
Elizabeth glanced down at herself once Theo left, her cheeks reddened when she saw that she was in such an undressed state. She quickly grabbed her robe, slipping it back onto her body before running off to her room. She slipped on a simple blue dress, tying her hair back in a braid before slipping on her shoes and running downstairs.
Warren and Theo were already downstairs when she made her way down, they were both fully dressed and armed for battle. When Elizabeth gave them a questioning look, Warren grinned, "Could be another trap, we have to be prepared for anything."
Elizabeth made a face, making her way over to the two of them, "I don't think that whoever we are going to meet will appreciate that. They could vaporize you on the spot."
Warren puffed out his chest, sticking his chin out, "They can try."
Theo poked Warren in the ribs, drawing out a laugh that sounded almost like a giggle. Warren started to scowl while Theo started to laugh, holding his sides. Elizabeth hid her giggle with a hand over her mouth, looking away.
Warren huffed, "Let's go." He stalked off to the carriage.
Theo and Elizabeth laughed as they followed him to the carriage, climbing inside with Warren. Warren sat in the corner, grumbling to himself as he crossed his arms. Theo cooed, "Oh poor Warren, upset over a very unmanly giggle?"
