Dinner finished swiftly after that. Theo and Warren snuck off in whispers and laughs while Catherine shook her head and made sure she went in the opposite direction. Daniel gave Clara a soft smile and ducked into the kitchen, leaving Clara with flushed cheeks and a smile. Hannah and Eric shared a soft kiss before heading to their office hand in hand, Eric holding her with a protective arm around her waist.
Clara smiled at Elizabeth and said, "Let's go to their office, we can tell them about our concerns about Silas. They can help you figure it out." She offered her arm, the copper dress she was searing brought out the flecks of gold in her honey-colored eyes.
Clara headed out to the Potentate's office, gently knocking on the door. There was a soft rustling from inside and a few giggles before Hannah opened the door. Hannah's cheeks were flushed and her hair was messy, quickly smoothing it down as she smile, "Can I help you?" Eric was in the back of the room at the desk, his lips smeared with lipstick and a huge grin on his face.
Clara bit back a grin and said, "If we were interrupting something, we can leave?" Elizabeth watched with a flush, not realizing two married people would show so much public affection.
Eric grinned, "Yes, please leave." But Hannah threw him a glare and invited them in.
Clara dragged a blushing and embarrassed Elizabeth into the room, settling them both down on the cushioned chairs in front of the two desks. The walls were lined with portraits, weapons, and paintings of dragons. The walls were a soft crème color, making the dark furniture in the room pop out. Eric was lounging in his desk chair, watching them with a lazy expression. He gave them a grin, the red lipstick smeared on his lips, "Welcome to our office, thank you for knocking first." Hannah smacked his arm gently and sat down at her desk.
She folded her hands in her lap and asked softly, "So. . . what are you needing?" She seemed eager to get back to whatever they were doing before Elizabeth and Clara interrupted them.
Elizabeth looked nervous, looking up at them, "It's about Silas, I think I have some extra information about him that you might find useful."
"Oh?"
She took a deep breath, "Clara was showing me the different rulers and I noticed that the ruler of Barus had a striking resemblance to Silas. I think that Silas might be the ruler of Barus's son." She watched their face for any signs of shock or anger. She was surprised to see that their faces just showed confusion.
Eric sat upright in his chair, "The ruler of Barus has no children, he's never married or even publicly had a girlfriend. Are you sure he doesn't just resemble him?"
Elizabeth's eyes flashed with a bit of anger, "I spent three months being tormented and tortured by this man. I know that the ruler of Barus looks completely like him, just aged about twenty years. That man is Silas' father."
Hannah got up, "There's no need for you to get angry or upset, I promise you that we will look into it. It's just that publicly there is no wife or child of Abraham Hyde." She smoothed down her dress before heading over to the bookshelves, taking a few down, "But I assure you that we will be looking into it immediately."
Eric gave a little pout and Hannah gave him a stern look, "Immediately." She set the books down on her desk with a soft thump, looking back at the two girls, "You should go rest up, Elizabeth, it's been a long few months for you. I think a long nap and a bath would do you good."
Elizabeth was about to protest but Clara got up and dragged her from the room, calling over her shoulder, "Perfect, thank you!" She kept a grip on Elizabeth's arm until they reached the staircase. She let go of her and motioned up the stairs, "You should go rest, your body will need it." She glanced at the clock on the wall and smiled, "I have somewhere to be, I will see you after your nap." She disappeared around the corner.
