'Well, now I have to attract Choi Han's attention.'

Roksu turned away from the extremely public display of affection and headed back inside of the estate to make her own plans. It felt a bit unfair that Cale had easily managed to snag the damn prince while Choi Han had no one. As though the villainess had won.

Roksu would grant her that victory though. One way or another, she was going to make Choi Han the happiest woman alive. Hopefully, she'd be able to do so by being her partner but she welcomed any potential solution to her problem.

With a mental note to tease Cale later about this, Roksu listened to the black dragon chatter about how silly Cale and the prince were and how it was best to just be honest with your feelings.

She had to admit, the kid sometimes had some pretty good ideas.

Choi Han was having an odd week. Certainly not a bad week but just a touch odd. At the beginning of the week, Roksu-nim had been lost in thought. No less kind and patient, but constantly troubled by some burden that she couldn't share.

Choi Han dedicated herself to training extra hard in the meantime. She needed to become strong enough that Roksu-nim could rely on her with the things that troubled her. Choi Han wanted to be her strength.

She wanted to be there for her.

But then, the moment that Roksu-nim had finished her lengthy period of being lost in thought, she had hardly left Choi Han's side even once.

At first Choi Han had wondered if Roksu-nim was feeling unsafe. Had someone threatened her? Did she fear an attack? It was hard to imagine another reason for her sudden need to remain close by at all times. Choi Han had been extra alert, just in case.

But no danger came and Roksu-nim showed no signs of being concerned about danger. In fact, Roksu-nim was... strangely affectionate.

Roksu-nim had always been kind and affectionate. She'd been the person who helped Choi Han at her lowest and beyond that, she remained a constant at Choi Han's side. Someone reliable. Someone Choi Han could call family.

Someone she felt comfortable loving.

Lately was a bit different though.

"I really don't need all of this..." Choi Han protested, surrounded by the new batch of presents that her liege had purchased just for her. This time, there were weapons and sensible clothing for training and battle. Yesterday had been dresses. The day before that, it had been candies and sweets of all kinds.

Choi Han really didn't know what to do.

Roksu turned an effortlessly charming smile towards Choi Han. "Of course you don't." She gave Choi Han's shoulder an affectionate pat. "But I wanted to get it for you. Indulge me."

Choi Han felt color rising to her cheeks and looked away, her heart making a sincere effort to escape her chest if only in a bid to be closer to Roksu.

Sometimes Choi Han really didn't know what to do about Roksu's kindness.

It was too much. And so sweet she couldn't bear without it.

"I should train." Choi Han said suddenly, straightening up. "I need to get stronger."

Roksu's expression pinched up into a slight frown but she nodded. Choi Han knew that Roksu didn't approve of her overdoing it but what else could she do? She needed to become strong enough to be worthy of Roksu's affections.

She needed to be of use.

Roksu remained at her side on the way to the training grounds, holding Choi Han's hand loosely in her own and peeking glances at Choi Han as though working her way up to saying something.

Choi Han smiled warmly at her liege. "Is there something on your mind?"

"What's your type?"

Choi Han nearly tripped over her own feet.

"What?"

Oh no. Choi Han felt dread fill her. Was this about the crown prince again? Choi Han had at least some inkling that Roksu thought that they made a smart match but while she held nothing against the prince, she really didn't like the woman she actually loved trying to set her up with someone else.

"Your type." Roksu explained. "The type of person that you'd like to be in a romantic relationship with. That sort of thing."

Choi Han looked away, she pondered exactly how to answer. She wanted to speak in a way that would remove the crown prince from any consideration but she'd never been a good liar and besides... she didn't want to lie to Roksu-nim.

Stealing up her guts, she kept her eyes on the scenery as she spoke. "I like people who are kind. Smart. Too brilliant for their own good. The type of person who makes me happy effortlessly just by existing at my side." She squeezed Roksu's hand gently, hoping that perhaps she might understand.

Roksu-nim was one of the smartest people that Choi Han had ever known. But she was a bit dense when it came to matters of the heart.

It made Choi Han want to love her even more to make up for any deficit Roksu might have experienced.

"Hm..." Roksu's voice was pensive, thoughtful. Choi Han glanced at her face and saw a concerned frown on her lips. It was nerve wracking to wait for her next words. "Well, I'm not sure I can fulfill all of those conditions, but how about trying it out with me?"

Choi Han thought that she just might forget how to breathe then and there.

Roksu turned an awkward smile towards Choi Han, her reddish brown eyes lit up with an unknown emotion. "Well? Wanna give it a try?"

Choi Han nodded numbly and watched as Roksu's smile grew more joyful.

Just what was her liege thinking of?

"Good." Roksu leaned up and kissed Choi Han's cheek. "Then let me know if there's anything you'd like to do together as a couple."

Sometimes Choi Han thought she could understand her liege perfectly.

Other times she really wished that she could peek into her thoughts because she really couldn't anticipate her next move.

As it was, Choi Han was mesmerized but Roksu's charisma and chose to follow her anywhere.
