Ambrose had been kind enough to let me stay the night with him, but come morning I had no desire to return. I sat in the guest bed, staring at the bedroom door. It had stayed wide open all night, never being shut even once.
I had a lot to think about after last night. I wanted to know more, so much more about everything. I was kept in a bubble for being part demon that much is clear. What their motivations were I didn't know. Either way a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I finally knew after all these years of being the house outcast why I was so discriminated against, I had my answers but now a door has opened with so many more questions.
A knock on the door shifted my attention to Ambrose who stood there wearing only a pair of boxers. He was an attractive man, tan skin short waved hair. Lean and toned. Images of what he did to me last night replayed in my head.
"Your mates are on their way, I sensed their panic even from here. I'd give them about 20 minutes before they show up pounding on my front door. I hate to ask this, I truly do, but I personally don't want to be ripped apart for touching their mate so I'm going to have to ask you to leave before they try to kill me." I looked away from him and out the window, direct sunlight hit the glass panel, the rays scattering around the room.
I stood up, wearing Ambrose's shirt only and walked over to him. He didn't move out of the way, he just watched me patiently. I looked up at him as he was a head taller than me, then stood on the tips of my toes and smashed my lips into his before pulling away shortly after.
"What was that?" Curiosity was the only thing lacing his tone. No disgust no anger like Ryland had displayed the first and only time I kissed him. I like the way Ambrose's lips felt against mine. No it wasn't a mate bond but something drew me to him. Something different entirely.
"I want to stay here with you. Let me travel the world with you Ambrose, please. I want to learn about what is out there, I want to know the truth. I know I'm asking a lot I know that I'm useless when it comes to navigating how the world works but I feel a connection to you... and I want to get out of here." His gaze was intense as his eyebrow rose up as he considered my bold statement.
"That is quite a proclamation you just made."
I knew it was too good to be true. But I had to ask didn't I? I had to try at least. He sighed out in defeat and I met his gaze trying to not display hints of excitement. Was he agreeing?!
"Any night this week come to this room and enter the closet," he motioned to the wardrobe on the opposite side of the room. "I'm going to leave here, your mates will want to rip me apart once they catch wind of what you and I did last night. If you feel the same still by the end of the week, I'll take you with me. I don't want you making brash decisions think carefully on what you want to do. Now go, and remember only the wardrobe in this room will take you to me." He motioned me away and I ran out of the house taking off his shirt before shifting. I didn't want to destroy it when he had loaned it to me. I'd be sure to return it. If I could smile in wolf form I would have been smiling right about now.
I ran back towards home figuring that I'd run into the rest of them sooner or later. This would keep them off Ambrose's trial long enough so that he could get out of here. Before I even knew what was happening Aiden was slamming into me in wolf form, pinning me down with his paws as Cassius warningly nipped at me to stay down. The wind was knocked out of me briefly while a car from behind them pulled up. The tires screeched loudly as the breaks were slammed on. The non wolves piled out of the vehicle running over to us.
"Luca!" Magnus called out. He shooed the others away forcing Cassius and Aiden off before bear hugging me while I was still in wolf form. "I was so worried Luca Jesus Christ we all were! Shift." I obeyed, the shirt still in my jaw so I wouldn't be exposed, to them. I stepped back and shifted swiftly maneuvering the fabric over my head to cover me. Aiden shifted back to human form and quickly got in my face, running his nose along my body. Cassius joined in before Azrael, Levi and Doz were all getting close to me and smelling my body. They knew. They could smell it, smell him. Aidens growl ripped through his human throat as he violently pinned me back to the ground. He grabbed the shirt on my body and tore it off of me.
