\\chapter 9//
Alison's P.O.V
"Okay." I think I might have just sold my soul to the devil.
He grins from ear to ear. His eyes light up with excitement and... something sinister. Smiles don't suit him well.
"I have a meeting I have to get ready for and attend in less then an hour. And after the meeting I have something important to do. I'll get back to the house at around 5 p.m. okay?"
"Yeah that's fine."
"Perfect," he says patting my lap. He should really stop smiling, he looks like a serial killer. "Well, I'll be going now," he stands up as I do too.
"I'll be heading out as well," I say. Going to April's is way better than sitting around doing absolutely nothing.
I walk to the front door ready to open it when he asks where I'm off to.
"To a friends house." I rely shutting the front door.
I want to scream.
I need to talk to April about this. Maybe she'll give me some advice on what to do.

Knock knock knock
After walking about 20 minutes, I've arrived at April's front door. I stand there patiently waiting.
" anybody home!" I shout. I wait a moment for a response, but I get none. So I decide to knock again.
'Maybe she isn't home' I tell myself. Damm I should have called. I turn around to leave when I hear a familiar voice on the other side of the door. April's voice, I smile. Relief and comfort washes over me. Times like this make me realize how gratefully I should be to have a friend like Apirl.
" I'm coming!" She shouts before swing the door open.
" hey" she says forcing a small smile.
My smiley face turns into a face full of concern and confusion.
April's eyes are red and puffy. The dark circle under her eyes make her look even worse. It looks like she's been crying. Her messy hair is tucked into her black hoodie.
" April, what's wrong? You've been crying," I ask, desperate to know. I notice she's hiding her left hand behind her back.
She laughs nervously and says " what? Nothing's wrong Alison I ugh..." She looks behind me, then looks back at me. Twice.
" w-well, I... ugh... burned my hand " she frowns looking down at her hand. She brings her hand up for me to see. " and it hurt like a bitch," Her eyes are getting watery.
" you what!? How? "I Ask worryingly. I quickly take her burned hand in mine as gently as possible. She hisses but doesn't move her hand away. I exam her hand carefully. The skin on top of her hand is bright red and pink on some areas.
" it looks like you spilled boiling water onto yourself," I mumble under my breathe. April jerks her hand back.
"That's exactly what happened!" She says quickly. " I was boiling some water because I was preparing tea. When I grabbed the cup full of hot water, I wasn't paying attention and I spilled it all over my hand."
" tea?"
"Yes , tea."
"April, you don't drink tea. You've never liked it."
" well, now I do." I look at her with disbelief. "What, you don't believe me," she questions.
" No, I do. It's just...you never have a change of heart over anything," I say.
