"You shouldn't be here."
Laith immediately spun. A figure, wearing a hood that covered half of his face. He was the one that accompanied Zaph at the arena. The time she and Rezz had fought.
I told you to stay alive remember?
"You," Laith took a step back. "You mean I should be in held captive in the underground like a living stock?"
"You shouldn't be here in Vank." He replied. "They'll kill you in the most horrible way."
"You think?" Laith's brow lifted upwards.
"You did keep the deal. So I guess that's fair. When the time comes, you might need my assistance." He looked to the door. "Also, you might want to help your friend down there. He's in trouble."
Laith stepped to the door, watching him curiously then rushed to the hall. As she found the way out, she slowly reached the path she took down in the underground before. Quite. She glanced at Rez's cell. Empty.
Where was he?
A hand, cold as ice, grabbed her mouth, pulling her to the wall. "She's here, Huvedra!"
Zaph appeared through the darkness of the prison, his face flashed and blend with the torches, he smirked. "Thought I lost you. Looking for him?"
He pointed to his right. Two guards pulled both of Rez's stiff arms, dragging him away.
"Let him go!" Laith cried. "What'd you do to him?"
He grabbed her tunic closer, and his breath burned. "You think you can escape? I told you before, right? Then face the consequences." he pushed her away and shifted to the back. "Bring her out!"
Suddenly, two more guards dragged Alra, as the girl struggle from their firm hands.
"No, please." Tears bloomed from Laith's cheeks.
"Don't worry. I won't kill her." Zaph smiled. "You will."
She stood against Alra. Tears poured, regret glistened a flash of resentment.
She shouldn't have done it.
Now she had to repay.
The guard injected a sedative into her neck, making her gasping in shock. Suddenly her veins stretched and twitched. He pulled the metal that tied to her hands.
"Bring out the devil inside you, filthy Invera." Zaph snarled before turned around to the stairs and took his place.
Laith.
Why did she let her curiosity take control of her?
More.
How could she let herself be blinded with hope? There was no way out.
