A/N: Okay, here is the chapter with Landon's POV. I tried my best with this, but it may not sound like a dude, haha. Just remember that I tried my best, and if this isn't believable for a guy's POV... Well, whoops.
LANDON'S POV
"Blair, pick your feet up! Ramsey, look alive! Hartford, I swear to god if you trip again I will personally throw you into the lake and make sure you freeze!" I rolled my eyes and continued the drills that I've known since I was five. These were almost as boring as my dance lessons with Aubrey.
Just kidding. My dance lessons aren't boring at all.
"Boys! Huddle up!" We all jogged over to where Coach was standing and formed a circle. He rubbed his temples and sighed at us. "I have no idea what's going on here, but I need it to stop. You guys are acting distracted; tired, even. Anybody care to explain to me what's going on here?" A boy named Ronan raised his hand in the back. "Go for it, son."
Ronan cleared his throat. "I think we're all a little lovestruck." All the guys, including me, boomed with laughter. Ronan rolled his eyes at everyone and tried to explain himself. "I mean, come on! Honestly, they're all pretty and nice, why not? Especially Ramsey over here. The womanizer is totally head over heels for that Aubrey chick." Oh my god. Wow.
I chuckled. "Sure, Ronan."
Cashton patted me on the back. "Look at yourself, Ramsey. Your face is getting all red and you got this big goofy grin on your face. Just gotta accept it, dude."
"You guys are all delusional," I replied, rolling my eyes and taking off my helmet. Across from me, I saw Coach smiling at us and shaking his head. I smirked. "What about you, Coach? How about you and Ms. Rodgerson?" I wiggled my eyebrows at him and he bit the inside of his mouth.
"Ah, that's a load of crap. I wouldn't be able to live with her. You all get my drift. A lot of those girls are that way."
"Except Ciara. Blair was talking all about getting up on that," Cashton said.
More laughter sounded and Blair's smile vanished. "Dude! That is so not true!" Blair said, punching Cashton on the arm. Cashton rolled his eyes.
"Boys, let's stop talking about the ladies like this. This is the reason we got into those fights yesterday! Now, would one of you care to tell me why you haven't asked these ladies out yet? I remember all of last year all of you boys weren't afraid at all to ask out a girl. What's so different now? This self esteem issue better end soon. It's impacting your game."
Cashton rolled his eyes again. "Coach, you don't get it. These girls aren't like the girls at our school. They're uptight and they actually have standards. Coach, honestly, we're terrified."
Coach laughed at us. He actually laughed at us. "Of course you're terrified. I know that. It's probably because you guys have never been rejected, and you just ran into some girls who are actually going to make you try. Honestly, I just think you guys are scared of being laughed at."
Andie, another guy on our team, shook his head and laughed. "Come on, Coach. Look at us. If you were a chick, would you say no? And can we please get back to practice?"
"Andie, calm yourself. We won't be able to properly get back to practice until this issue is resolved. I can't have you boys off-focus and lazing around. That's not what football is all about. Does anybody have an idea of how we can solve this problem? Because Andie makes a good point. We need to get back to practice. But it seems that if this problem doesn't go away, we're not going to get much of a practice done with." Coach crossed his arms and looked us all over. "So? Anybody got any ideas?"
Another guy named Lincoln raised his hand. "I think one of us should ask a girl out, and that would probably boost the rest of our's self esteem. Like, it'll inspire us or something. And then we'll all grow the balls to do it ourselves."
Coach nodded. "Sounds like a plan to me. Any volunteers?" All of us went quiet.
The only thing that I was thinking about right now was Aubrey. Oh, man, she would probably be the hardest to get to agree to a date. Knowing her attitude, she'd probably kick me in the balls right on the spot. Why is she so romantically inept? It's not like I'm some crazy rapist. Or maybe she thinks I am. I act like that sometimes; I wouldn't blame her. I ruffled my hair and heard all the guys arguing around me.
"No! You do it, Cashton! At least Leah is nice!"
"Come on, Blair. Ciara would jump at a chance to go out with you."
"Danny, honestly, just ask Rosemary."
"Boys!" Coach bellowed. "One at a time, please."
"I think we should get someone to ask out the easiest girl."
I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "Are you kidding me? That wouldn't higher our self esteem at all. It'd just tell us that asking out an easy girl is easy." The guys nodded and agreed with me.
"Then, we have to do the most uptight of the girls. Or the hardest nut to crack." We all stayed silent as we contemplated which one of the girls was the hardest nut to crack. But then it hit me.
Aubrey.
Well, shit.
"I'm pretty sure we can all agree it's Aubrey," Blair said, biting his lip. I ran my hands through my hair and shook my head. The other guys agreed and also ran their hands through their hair.
"Well, who wants to go for it?" Coach asked. I can't believe he's cool with this. My parents would probably call this an "absurd idea."
"Landon does!" Blair said. I turned around and smacked him on the arm, shaking my head furiously. "Oh, come on. If any one of us is able to get her to say yes, it should be the legendary Landon Ramsey."
I shook my head. "Dude, it's different. Her brother is Nathan Daniels." I said, putting emphasis on her brother's name. All of the guys let out a low whistle and Coach smiled, shaking his head.
"Well, Nate likes you. It's not like he's going to pound your face in for asking her out. He'd actually probably jump with joy and plan your guys' wedding," Blair replied, patting me on the back. "If any of us, it should be you."
Groaning, I rubbed my eyes. "I guess."
Coach smiled and blew his whistle. "Problem solved! Let's get back to practice, men!"
