Come here darlin'
Why?
Because I need you..
I giggle.
I love your laugh, it's lovely.
Shut up and kiss me already!
That was my dream, how strange.
"Ari, you about ready?" My mom called from the bottem of the stairs.
"Uh...Not really." I called back.
By the time I was dressed and ready to go, I was thundering down the steps.
My mom stared at me when I reatched the bottem step.
"What?" I asked.
"You're looking particularly cute today Ari." She smiled and I looked at my clothes.
Shit! I was wearing that stupid cream colored dress my friend Sade had bought for me. I was nice, with a swooping back and a perfect sized cut in the front which made my barely there boobs looks like B-cups instead of large A's. The skinny belt was tight enough for a an actual waist. It's was just above knee length. Cute and totaly not the baggy sweatpants encrused girl that was me. My mom dissapeared into the hallway.
"Mom?"
"Just hold on a second, sweetie." She called back.
When she came into view again she was carring a pair of coral wedges, they matched my belt almost perfectly.
"Here," she said smiling at me, "I think you'll find these will work best with that outfit."
I gave her weak smile, "Thanks mom."
"Anytime Honey."
We hugged and then I hopped onto the bus that was at my drive way.
Sade clapped at my outfit choice.
"Oh my god! You're so cute!." SHe said grinning, "Everyboy will be at your feet."
"Just... shut up." I said trying to cover the dress with a jacket.
"Why? You look great!"
"Because I wasn't planning on wearing this dress."
"Then why'd you wear it?"
"Long story." I mubbled and she laughed.
She perked up and pulled from her bag a small, simple, pale yellow, bow.
"Here," She fixed my hair with it, "now you're perfect."
"Thanks." I roll my eyes.
When I got to school, a few girls complimented my outfit and I awkwardly took the compliments. I noticed Mayhem wasn't in chemistry.
'good' I thought, 'at least now he's not around to bother me.'
At lunch I was settling myself down with Riley, who made sure I didn't ditch her again at lunch, and Sade when I heard someone wolf whistle at me. I turned to see a very handsome very assholyish Mayhem staring at me. I rolled my eyes and turned around.
"Hey! Slut" A girl from his table yelled at me. I tried to ignore them but they just kept teasing me.
"Guys!" I heard Mayhem call to them.
"What, she's obviously basking in your attention." One of the girls called. The whole lunch room laughed at me.
"Just ignore them, Ari. They're assholes. Just ogno- ARI!" I had jumped up my fist shaking and my eyes two seconds away from crying, I ran from there.
I hated the laughter behind me, hated this school where I was always the freak.
I crumpled in an alcove of the hallway and waited for the laughing to stop. I cried so hard I didn't hear the door open again.
"Ari?" It was him.
Shit I didn't want him hear.. Him and his stupid gaggle of girls that surrounded him.
"Ari? where are you?"
"Just...go away!" I moaned into my hands.
"Ari, I'm sorry they were being ass- Ari?"
I sensed him kneeling down to my level.
"Ari? I'm sorry. I'm really sorry."
I turned my head away so he wouldn't see my tears.
"No, just go away!" I tried to push him away but he didn't budge.
"I'm sorry! It won't happen again I promise." He hugged me! And I let him!
"No you're not. You don't give a fuck about anyone but yourself." I nearly screamed into his chest.
He stiffend, then relaxed, "Is that really what you think of me?" He sounded...sad.
I looked up, trying to see his face through the hot tears.
He wiped them away with one finger. I blinked, he smiled.
And then... I don't know egsactly how it happened...We were kissing. Just like that, I was kissing this boy. My very first kiss, went to Mayhem Riley. It was...like I was floating and all I knew was that this felt nice and safe. His arms wrapped around me more tightly and I wrapped my fingers in his hair.
It only lasted for two minutes but it felt like forever. Then we broke apart and I was back on earth again.
"That was...my first kiss." I managed to choke out.
His eyes wided and then he smiled.
"You better?"
"Yeah...and I'm fucking angry!" I said, getting my temper and my dignity back. I jumped up.
"Why?" His eyes wided with surprise. He stood up.
"Because that was my first kiss, dammit!" I beat my fists agaist his chest, it didn't seem to affect him.
"Your first kiss!" His annoying grin was coming back and it jst made me even more agry.
"Don't you dare laugh!" I beat harder. He caught my wrists in his large hands. I yanked but he wouldn't let go.
"Let me go." I whispered in a would-be calm voice.
"Not if you're going to keep hitting me." He grins back.
"Arrg! You're such an asshole!"
"You know it." He winked at me and let me go. I backed away.
I wanted to say 'just leave me alone.' but the words got messed up on the way to my mouth so instead it came out as, "I don't like you."
He laughed, "You will soon, Darlin."
"Fuck off!" I turn around and storm back into the lunch room with my head held high. All in all the day was just weird. With Mayhem grinning at me everytime we made eye contact. I also noticed my skin didn't crawl when he looked at me now. Weird.
