"Alright," I pulled out my list of groceries from the right pocket of my dress, "Should we get the things the kitchen staff needs for dinner first, or go order your dress, Luci?"

"Dresses first, then we can go perusing for produce." She helped Katie out of the carriage.

"Who else is getting a dress?" Katie perked up, having assumed it was for her.

"Eliza is." She grinned, "She's going to be accompanying father and I to the ball Friday night."

"Damned wolf ears." I mentally rolled my eyes at her eavesdropping, then said aloud, "No, I am not attending and therefore will I not be needing one."

"Don't let her fool you." Luci grinned, "Father told me specifically to make sure we do not leave until she gets one."

The two had conspired against me in secret. Though, they could have bought me a new dress and said all they wanted behind my back in secret, but, at the end of the day, nothing they could have conjured up was going to change the fact I was not going to that ball.

"I say we make her wear yellow since she's being so hardheaded." Katie giggled.

"Anything but that." I groaned, if I was going to be getting a new dress it was going to, at least, be something I liked. "Fine, fine I will play along, just do not dress me in yellow of all things."

"See, I told you." Luci giggled, "She wants a dress after all."

After I told the Coachman when and where to pick us up later that afternoon, we started to make our way through the town on foot. Occasionally catching the scent of something delicious or seeing something in a window of a store that we did not need but fawned over wishing we could have.

It was days like those I loved the most. Being with my sisters, not a care in the world as we just enjoyed our time out of the house. Though, Mira's presence was greatly missed. For despite her teenage angst and hormonal instability, she was rather hilarious at times and had a great eye for fashion.

"I should take her out, after she shifts, to make up for her missing out on today. Perhaps I'll get her some extra meat while I'm at the butcher, that should make her and Nemra happy." I made a mental note.

As we made our way through town on foot, it started to become clearer that we had not been the only ones who had ventured out to shop. The sidewalks were buzzing with women and men alike, as everyone hopped from shop to shop.

"It is rather busy today, is it not?" I mentioned as I grabbed ahold of Katie's small hand, making sure she was secured to my side just in case we happened to get caught up in some congestion.

"More so than usual." Luci looked as if she was trying to listen to something. "I think I just heard someone say we are going to be having some important visitors Friday night. Something about an Alpha from Alpha king's inner circle being one of them." She laughed so hard she snorted, "They think he has come for Alison! hat he is actually interested in that wretch."

"I cannot see why. The Alpha's daughter is not worth the trip." I softly spat.

I had not been a fan of Alison since the first time I had the misfortune of stumbling into her a few years back. She, like most pure-bloods, hated mutts and looked down on us as if we were nothing more than roaches. A sentiment I never quite understood, probably because I, myself, was a mutt. I had often times over heard wolves talking about us as if we were an infestation of some sort. Though, how people could be an infestation, I was not sure. We existed because the wolves chose to breed with humans, they made us, yet we were the ones at fault for existing.
