Maddie from DCFS had called Matt and Sylvie to say they could start the adoption process the first part was to get an assessor round to see if Matt and Sylvie had the appropriate place to look after a five year old. They managed to arrange it for shift because they needed Cindy there as proof of childcare when they were on shift.
"Hi Cindy thanks for coming Mrs Smith will be around today to assess if me and Matt can adopt Tessa" Sylvie said
"Your welcome it obvious you and Matt love the little girl to pieces. Of course I will do anything to help you get this adoption sorted out that girl loves you too. Tessa is one very lucky girl" Cindy said
"Matt she here" Sylvie said
"Hi Cindy again thanks for doing this" Matt said
"It no problem" Cindy said
A knock at the door
"Hi you must be Miss Brett I'm Chole Smith i here on behalf of DCFS to check your living conditions for Tessa Guildhall before you adopt her" Chole said
"Yes Miss Smith come on in" Sylvie said
"Okay let being Miss Brett Mr Casey you both work at firehouse 51 and your both on second shift so who will look after Tessa when your on shift" Chole asked
"This is Cindy Herrmann she is a certified childminder and she will take Tessa when we're on shifts" Matt said
"Okay so childcare tick it seems like you are good to go I did background check and nothing bad can up you can't be parents if you committed a crime DCFS policy" Chole said
"Okay what's next" Sylvie asked
"Well everything looks good so come down to the DCFS offices in 1 weeks time and sign the adoption forms and you be good to go" Chole said
"Hey guys why do I take Tessa for you tonight so she can get use to sleeping over" Cindy said
"Yes that would be great" Matt said
Cindy room Tessa for the night so she could use to sleeping over 3 times a week Matt and Sylvie worked Sundays Wednesday and Fridays The CFD schedule change all the time.
It was never 100% solid each week it was always different. But it was always a three day week 24 hour shifts, with 48 hours off.
2 weeks later
Matt and Sylvie had finally adopted Tessa her new name was Tessa Casey it was another shift day Matt and Sylvie had dropped Tessa off and Cindy's for the night.
Sylvie put her turn out gear on.
"Reporting for duty Captain" Sylvie said
Matt dragged her into the turn out room Matt had his Captain helmet on no shirt
"Come Captain come be Captain on my ship" Sylvie said
30 minutes later
Stella was walking past the turn out room when Matt and Sylvie came out.
"Did you two just get busy in our turn out room" Stella asked
"Yes Matt thinks I hit when I'm in my turn out gear" Sylvie said
"We did once before after Cruz made the slamigan" Matt said
"Wow Sex in the firehouse if Boden catches you" Stella said
"Oh come on the door was locked" Sylvie said
"Yeah" Matt said
"How Tessa"Stella asked
"Oh she good she has settled in really well we both love her" Sylvie said
"Yeah she recently started calling mom and dad" Matt said
"She is such a sweet little girl" Sylvie said
"Speaking of which" Matt said
Matt had a surprise for his girlfriend he knew she was worried about driving Tessa around in her car so he brought her a new one.
"Surprise I brought you a new car I knew you were worried about driving Tessa around on your old one so o brought you a new one never been used and you put snow chains on in the winter" Matt said
"I can't believe you brought me a car thank you so much" Sylvie said
"With this job and my construction business. I was just about able to afford this for you." Matt said
Sylvie has never loved Matt than right now he bought her a car, a new car and everyone at 51 thought it was such a sweet gesture and wished some of their partners would do this Boden and Donna Hermann and Cindy. They wished they had partners like this. That would a car.
