After a 16 hour drive from Chicago to Texas 81 arrived the 118 had already beaten them there.
"Oh Hey up the cavalry as arrived" Buck said
"Yeah CFD finest" Eddie said
The 5 of them got out of the rig.
"I'm Captain Matthew Casey this is lieutenant Kelly Severide Christopher Herrmann Stella Kidd and paramedic in Charge Sylvie Brett from Firehouse 51 Chicago fire department" Matt said
"Welcome 51 I'm Captain Strand" Strand said
"Hi I'm captain Bobby Nash This is Eddie Diaz Evan Buckley Howie Chim but we call him Chimney Hen Wilson we're with the 118 LAFD" Nash said
While 51 and the 118 we're getting to know each other they knew they were there for the same reason.
"So you Casey huh" Eddie said
"Yeah we been together for about 6 months now I recently came back to work after an injury where I was intending to a patient, he had a bomb strapped to his chest. I got caught in the crossfire, ended up having a mild concussion and fractured ankle." Sylvie said
"Ouch" Eddie said
"Yep got the screws and rod out last week and I was cleared for duty" Sylvie said
1 week later
After a week in Texas helping put out a wildfire Austin fire department had it under control now all out of state firehouse were told to head back of course 51 were going to keep in touch with the crew of the 118.
Now there where back in Chicago It was business as usual Matt had asked Sylvie to move in with him which she kindly accepted.
The bells when off Truck 81 squad 3 engine 51 Ambo 61 house fire
"Chief one child coming out now the parents didn't make it" Matt said
Matt brought out a little girl and took her to Sylvie.
"Hi sweetie what's your name" Sylvie asked
"Tessa" Tessa said
"Tessa that a lovely name" Matt said
Boden gave Matt permission to help Sylvie take the little girl to Med as she had take quite a shine to Matt and Sylvie. 51 Followed
"Hey Maggie little girl Tessa how is she" Boden asked
"Matt and Sylvie are in with her I phoned DCFS there on they way Matt and Sylvie are going to to stay with Tessa until they get here" Maggie said
Boden when to go see Matt and Sylvie
"Hey guys so don't worry I have called in floaters to cover you for the rest of shift so stay with Tessa until DCFS get here" Boden said
2 hours later
DCFS arrived unfortunately Tessa had no family so Matt and Sylvie had a decision to make.
"Hi Miss Brett Mr Casey I'm Maddie Anderson from DCFS now unfortunately Tessa has no immediate family Mr Casey you have been an approved foster parent before and Miss Brett o got DCFS to approve you has a foster parent Tessa Guildhall is yours now if you want to adopt in a few weeks, please give the office a call" Maddie said
Matt and Sylvie had talked about maybe adopting kids and having one of their own it seems there dream of becoming a family was finally happening had they had just fostered Tessa.
The next day
"Come on then pumpkin let's get you to your new home" Matt said
"Hey Babe hey pumpkin before we headed back to ours let's stop by the Herrmann's and see if they have any old clothes for Tessa all her stuff burned in the fire"Sylvie said
"Yes good idea" Matt said
On the way back home Matt Sylvie and Tessa stopped at Herrmann's.
"Hey Herrmann we were wondering do you have any old clothes of Annabelle" Sylvie asked
"Yes here a box of them they should all fit and I'm happy you and Matt have fostered her Molly's tomorrow night we have a surprise for you" Herrmann said
"Thanks for this Herrmann and we will be there" Sylvie said
