Fuutarou's POV:

"Raiha, are you okay!?"

Her homeroom teacher called while I was still at the shopping mall with the quints. One moment I was arguing with them, the next my brain went completely blank when I heard Raiha fainted at her class. After that, everything turned into blur—train, streets, front door. By the time I came to my senses, I was already home. As if Ichika's haphazard plan wasn't enough, now something happened to my sister...

When I barged into the living room, Raiha was lying on the futon. Her cheeks were flushed and bangs plastered to her forehead with sweat. The room smelled faintly of home medicine and cooled rice porridge. Her breathing feels shallow and a little uneven. Just great. Of all times... why now?

''...Yeah. Sorry to bother you while you were out having fun, nii-san. Looks like I've got a fever...''

"Fun, huh?" I let out a breath I failed to realize I'd been holding. "Your health isn't the greatest, so don't overexert yourself. I bought some stuff to help." I lifted the plastic bag still cutting into my fingers. "Ibuprofen, Tylenol, sports drink, some easy-to-digest food..."

''Thanks. You're really... the best, but I already took my medicine. I feel much better than a few hours ago, so please don't worry too much about me."

My brain stalled. I instinctively looked to the side and noticed a crumpled pharmacy bag sitting next to the futon. Same logo, same store name, same everything as the one hanging from my hand. That's literally the exact same pharmacy I'd stopped by on my way here?

Raiha followed my gaze and let out a tiny guilty chuckle as if she understood what I about to ask. "...Well, nii-san—"

"You're late, Fuutarou."

His voice came from the doorway

His voice came from the doorway. I turned my head and saw him there: Kazuma, leaning against the doorframe with one shoulder and our food tray balanced in both hands. His expression was mild as usual but his eyes flicked briefly toward Raiha before settling on me.

"Kazuma?" I stared. "What are you doing here?"

''For the same reason as you. Raiha's teacher informed me about her situation.''

Wait a second.

What? Rewind.

Why would Raiha's teacher call Kazuma?

How would they even have his number?

He's not Raiha's brother (techinally). I am.

Raiha weakly raised her hand like she was answering a question in class. "Actually, when sensei asked me for my family's contact information, I gave her everyone's phone numbers, hehe~" She stuck her tongue out just a little. "So that's why Kazu-nii was able to come and help me right away. Isn't that amazing, nii-san?"

"My dignity as a big brother just shattered into a million pieces..." I turned to Kazuma. ''Were you cooking?''

Kazuma knelt beside Raiha and set the tray down on the floor. "Raiha said she's hungry.'' Rice porridge, a bit of pickled plum, tea cooled to a safe temperature. It looks like those tasteless hospital meals served when staying overnight. Still, it looks appetizing somehow.
