Cheyenne's POV:
Dannie and I sat at our normal lunch table at school and talked about our plans for prom which was two weeks away and neither of us have been asked yet if at all. "This is our senior year dammit! We deserve to go to our prom and have a special night!" Dannie said angrily while stabbing her salad."Dannie, you've gone to every school dance we've ever had. There is still two weeks and we both know someone is going to ask you."
"But what about you, Cheyenne." I continued to play with my own salad as she said this. I had never been asked so why would this year be different? "To be honest, I thought Kellin was going to ask you. But I guess that ship has sailed." We both looked to where the jocks and preps hung out and saw Kellin and Christa sitting there completely enrapt around each other. She was giggling as he kissed her cheek and he smirked with every sound that spilled out of her.
Kellin and Christa had been together for a week now and even though I was glad he was happy, I couldn't help but be hurt about how much she had changed about him already. He had taken out the red streaks in his long black hair, he started to dress preppier, he hardly ever hung out with me and Dannie at school, and even our walks to and from school seemed to be a distant memory. Christa was taking my best friend away and it was making me sick. Literally. I could hardly keep anything down anymore and I had a constant migraine. My mom continuously tried to make me go to the doctor but I refused saying that it was just the flu. I didn't really know how long I could continue that story. I looked up again at them and accidentally made eye contact with Kellin. His smile quickly faded as our eyes locked and I could feel him about to get up to comfort me. At least she couldn't change that about him. I quickly smiled and and shook my head no and he half smiled back. I didn't want him to make Christa mad by leaving her to come ask me what was wrong. I just wanted to keep them a happy couple.
"Hey Dannie. Hey Cheyenne." Said Justin as he and the rest of the band sat down at our table.
"Hey guys!" I smiled, they had also felt a strange drift from Kellin and them, so we joined together like a little support group at lunch.
"Cheyenne I would really like to talk to you about some chords for a song we are putting on our EP, do you think you can come with me to the drama room right now?" Justin asked. Something about this question seemed fishy but I just nodded yes and we went around back to the drama room. Normally we would just cut passed the language classes to go but Justin took me the long way that was around the math and the science buildings.
"Why would you make us go all the way around?" I asked.
"I like the view better this way." I rolled my eyes and laughed and we finally reached the drama room. The lights were dimmed over the stage where there stood microphones in various places of the stage, Gabe's drums, and Justin's bass.
"Justin, what is this about?" I asked as he let go of my hand and jumped on stage.
"You'll see in a second." He smiled and I heard guitars start to play. Everyone from the band began to step out from the sides of the stage, including Kellin who took his place at the head mic. I couldn't help but just smile as they started to play "Don't Fall Asleep At The Helm" and then I saw my sign come down from the ceiling and I just started laughing. As the boys continued to play more and more people came in to see and cheered when the song ended. Then Justin took my hand and pulled me on stage. "Cheyenne, we have been friends for God knows how long and it's been amazing to see you grow into this wonderful and beautiful girl. So, will you please do me the honor and be my date to prom?"
"Is this really happening?" I asked dumbfounded and I heard people chuckle.
"Yes Chey, this is really happening." Justin laughed. I wrapped my arms around him and kissed his cheek. The crowd that formed and appeared to be growing cheered. The first to hug me was Jack, followed by Nick, then Gabe and finally Kellin.
